Examples of Dre beats that aged poorly? Even his 80s/early 90s ones are still hard
All of these are nearly 30 years old and still hard af, and he has range and switched his sound up. Wish Dre did more pop
Also yeah certain s*** sounds like the time its from, that doesn’t make it bad. How do you think most music coming out now is gonna sound in 30 years? Some of it isnt even good now 😂

This was the point I was trying to get across
Compton has some cool textures but it just sounds kinda dry(?) idk it was a disappointing listen for me outside of those fire Kendrick verses
He didn’t produce most of Compton lol
He didn’t produce most of Compton lol
Even worse
Funk as a genre may be classic, but I feel like the west coast hip hop that sprung off of it is a bit dated. Dated doesn’t automatically mean bad, it’s just not as timeless as people want it to be. This is all my opinion.
Where are you from, out of curiosity?
Because the West Coast sound is timeless to me, but I'm also born and raised in California lmao
Kanye, Pharrell, No ID, Just Blaze > dre
Not Kanye for sure. He not that good as those other producers.
One of the worst takes I've ever seen on this site.
Dre's music is some of the most timeless in hip hop, especially when you look at all his production outside of his solo albums.
Dre is underrated if anything.
If a current rapper went over Forgot About Dre you wouldn’t even realize it’s 20 years old
I can never hear music as dated in some kind of bad way.Just a different sound. Can't relate
I’m starting to think this “dated” music angle isn’t about datedness at all. All music is quite literally dated. Especially the most beloved music; part of why it became beloved in the first place was how well it captured the time period it was in. Thriller sounds like it came out in the early 80s, MBDTF sounds like it came out at the turn of the 2010s, Doggystyle sounds like it came out 1993….I could go on
Maybe this dated argument is about campiness, cause it’s mainly aimed at music with campy sensibilities. Why the term dated and not campy or even silly/goofy? Anyones guess
But I do know one thing: Dr Dre has made some of the greatest hiphop music of all time, and if you’re gonna come with bold criticism over his production, it better not be hidden behind that weak ass dated argument
Can we stop saying this like it diminishes how groundbreaking/great it was in that time?
It’s the perfect method of hating tbh
It’s like when a nigga is absolutely killing it in the present, u can be like “ok I can’t hate right now, but give me 10-15 years and I’m gonna spin back and say what ur doing now didn’t age well😈” and nobody will really be able to refute cause who the f*** wants to argue about some s*** that dropped 20 years ago

Georgia
Ban @op for never compiling a list to prove his point
Doggystyle one of the most timeless albums I can think of. Production wise
You can't go wrong with that sound
Em's s*** might have aged worse but that's got more to do with him than Dre
