As someone who used to listen to street rap/drill music heavily

I’ve come to realize that the s*** only brings about negative energy, nothing about it actually helps you except getting you hype. Even if the rapper spits a little bit of game, they go right back into the same bs they rapped about 10 songs ago on the same album.

Drill music got these niggas my age and younger hitting the streets cuz they see another nigga get money and hoes off it. When in reality these drill rapper’s future is either death or jail if they stay in the streets. S***, street rap in general have had generations of black men trying to be in the streets cuz they want to be like their favorite rapper, who’s chillin in their gated communities while making this music.

And I know they’ll be people that will say “DOnT BLamE tHe ARt” but that doesn’t apply anymore in this era, black men are legit dying off diss records cuz each side wanted to get more disrespectful.

    cmon man
the black community was created by forcefully kidnapping people as slaves and integrating those people's ancestors into a country that will never value them

I acknowledge that street rap is negative and influences people in a bad way but be real

Its so unfair that we are the only people whose music is seen as the root of the issue instead of a byproduct of the issue.

When white people do school shootings no one blames the last song they played

When cartel members kill each other no one blames spanish music.

The destruction of our community is the overpolicing of it, the poverty in it and the lack of education. Those are the true issues.

you have it backwards. the music is a symptom. not a cause

You're not wrong but let's not forget in the early 2000s heavy metal was the scapegoat for the columbine type niggas

To be fair, people have tried to pinpoint mass shootings on video games.

Even the 2nd Dark Knight movie was shut down by some theaters after the Colorado shooter killed those people in the movie back in 2012 and people were debating it.

I do believe that negative rap can be a scapegoat but there's some truth about it's influence on certain groups of Black people.

    It's very complex.

    Accelerant

  • they tried this in the UK. it's the environment. the music is a product of the environment. not the other way around

  • Dec 29, 2021

Either fix the torn down communites

    Or get better self control

Two options pick one but preferably both

  • Dec 29, 2021

Hate niggas that think this s*** happened after music LMFAO

  • Dec 29, 2021

It's the environment and families these kids grew up in that shapes them, not the music.

Put any race of people into a poor, low income environment and they will band together/split into groups and try to use the only resource they have to try to get more resources: violence.

  • Dec 29, 2021

All you niggas want to do is point at scapegoats instead of actually fixing the real issues & taking self accountability

Easier to sit on your ass & put blame on something abstract (in this case music) instead of facing reality.

And now you want to take away o e of the primary ways people in these situations escape?

Either you fix it, or people will try to fix their situation themselves by any means.

Anyone that thinks so literal like @op FOH imo.

I always found that odd because apparently they weren’t really bullied, they were just d***heads to people so no one really liked them and their journals were filled with nazi s***, odd narrative choice to blame external media

  • this not real at all having that said UK / NY drill sound like ass.

They’d be dying regardless, you just wouldn’t hear about it.

Tbh it’s repugnant and repulsive to boil down the issues facing these “communities” to just music

Bruh I literally seen white kids throw their lives away tryna to mimic street rappers
Asian and brown kids too it’s bigger than black America. It’s always the kids from broken homes though, and it’s not like those homes were broken by drill music in the first place
