Why are ppl acting like the economy cant be boosted and returned to damn near where it was in a 6month span?

U think ppl are gonna survive off their 1 $1200 check for the rest of their lives?

The vast majority of small businesses will reopen as soon as its viable to do so.

I’m in the camp that says we do what we have to to save as many lives as possible.

But 6 months is incredibly naïve bro. Take the Great Depression as an example. The economy didn’t hit the levels it was at pre-Great Depression until the 1950’s. That’s over a decade, and it included a World War which is a huge benefit to the economy.

Governments at the time 1 still cared about debt and surpluses, they dont anymore.

2, it costs a lot more to fund war, than it does to shelter in place.

All ppl need are low interest, or maybe even negative interest, loans, and a few programs to help startups. Its not 1940 anymore.

If u dont think business owners in 2020 will be immediately trying to reopen their businesses, idk what to tell u.

How are you going to do when borders are shut and international trade is almost gone null? Also travel industry is almost on the verge of bankruptcy, real estate is about to hit rock bottom, small and medium businesses are just gone, big corporations asking for taxpayers money

Capitalism is in an ICU unit as we speak

A good chunk of the world will ideally have their borders opened up to international trade by like september.

The US will have a prolonged recovery because of how late they were to respond seriously, and how soft their response was initially. More than half of the world is not in that same boat.

the borders here are open to business. nonessential travel is banned so no crossing over to by food or f*** s***

Some people have been using different lines to project how they'll think it goes:

A V...A U...A Nike check. We really dont know, there hasnt been a precedent like this in 99.9% of people's lives. and the 0.00000000001% were like 0-3

The German government is trying everything possible to prev ent it, they have banned uber, banned airbnb partially and put taxes in places that forces you to pay yearly for the fact that you own property.

Global unemployment rate is gonna skyrocket, nonetheless. Labour productivity is being wasted since most of businesses are shut down. Two months of no labour and the wheel of wealth accumulation is out of order. The number of unemployment cases submitted in the us is unprecedented and, looking at the data from the recession and depression, we are in for a good ride

Yup, recession was happening whether we stop the economy by choice, or let it go until grinds to a halt.

Assuming we get this virus under control in a timely manner, whats stopping the economy from getting a kick start and getting back on track in record time tho?

Btw, in the 40s, women didnt work, and the men suffered mass injury and loss of life in the war.

    Thats not the case here.

Same... And its up to the government to temporarily support its citizens rn.

Lets say a vaccine drops in february next year. WHAT IS STOPPING THE ECONOMY FROM GETTING BACK INTO MOTION?

We dont have a third of the working population missing limbs.

In 1948, nobody worked from home.

The economy lived or died by the manufacturing industry.

    Its almost 100 years later.
