Once things are calm I am going out as much as I can with friends. I’ll probably delete social media apps for a while. I’ll barely be home.

Not sure what people actually mean when they say things won't return back to "normal." People are going to go back to being social after this lets up. They can barely stay in doors as it is, even while shelter in place orders are being issued.

I just think people will take hygiene more seriously, which is something I hope to see.

e.g. maybe fast food restaurants will continue to serve food through the drive thru on a platter rather than using their hands.

Only way I see a change is if progressivists capitalize on what is being shown from our government and big business. There needs to be a leader/movement to instill determination in a society that is way to nonchalant about the inner workings if their lives. I hope we turn further away from capitalism and more towards socialism, as it is abundantly clear that capitalism is becoming less sustainable. There should be no reason companies like Boeing can buy back their stocks and turn around and ask for bailouts, or that our government put us in a bad position to face a crisis like this.

But again, people are dumb and have short attention spans. All these companies have to do is wiggle a discount in front of them and it will go back to the way it was.

    1. People in highly polluted places are seeing what it's like to have fresh air, which may lead to more climate-related legislation

    2. More people will become scientists

    3. More focus on healthcare in politics and society in general

    4. This will affect families a ton. Some people will get closer to their families and start to care more about extended family, while others will get sick of them, ex an increase in divorce rates.

    5. As others itt have said, work from home could become more common

    6. People will be naturally less willing to cram themselves into crowded spaces, which will affect sports attendance, parties, etc

  • From a NY standpoint I can say some pros and cons might happen g.

    pros:

    1. We're gonna def become China in that wearing masks become a normal thing. And tbh, we deadass should've been did that. The pollution in the city is crazy and we still 10-15 years away from every kid that came up in NYC buildings/schools with asbestos suing the city for every penny it has once we develop lung cancer 'nahmean?

Like when the train comes in the subway there's air particles we cant even f***ing see that just contaminates the air. I lowkey have a theory a LOOOOT of COVID-related deaths have some relation to this.

So we def wearing masks more.

    2. Subway hygiene, the MTA might actually start taking this s*** serious. Some subway stations in the 1st week of lockdown were shown to look the cleanest I've ever seen in years yo.

    3. increasing minimum wage talks gotta heat up. too many niggas risking their lives not for this to be a topic in the upcoming election talks.

    4. visibility for the immunocompromised. A lot of people never really knew how bad them niggas got it (I got asthma but I aint really had any issues for 8 years so I dont include myself in it. call it foolish pride lol) so I think more s*** may be put into businesses to accommodate them.

    cons:

    1. Landlords gonna become more power tripping knowing the government puts them first before the tenants. Every nigga that's rent striking is getting sued and kicked out the first thing once this s*** blows over.

    2. tbh, this was the final nail in the coffin of an already dying nightlife. Between the risk of crowded spaces AND assault cases being a problem (shoutout to Zombie House in Flatbush). In addition to rising rent prices already, this is gonna put more clubs and bars out of business. Welp.

I can tell already a lot of venues will lower their maximum capacity cause of this.

    3. international travel might get hit bad by this. Considering a good portion (i'd say the majority) of new yorkers are either immigrants or children/grandchildren of immigrants this might hit us hard man.

  • Hopefully WW3

People who base their entire self worth on oversocializing to run from the void in their soul lost

  • Apr 4, 2020

On a social level not much will change. Most people can't wait till the quarantine is over so they can go out again. At first some people might be more cautious of going to crowded events (sports, concerts, etc.) but in a year everything will be normal (unless a second wave of corona hits).
