In 2016 people said Carti, uzi, Yachty, and 21 were all generic and soulless

These artists have to grow and be given time to do such

Not personality wise, no one has ever said that lol, quite the opposite

  • Mar 16, 2022

Idk if OP is talking about human personalities or career personality because half the time he’s talking about the way they act and the other half is their “career” and “star powe

  • Mar 16, 2022

i will say @op that personality and uniqueness are important but aren't the be all end all we got blueface in 2019, a unique rapper with personality and look what happened to him. at least u recognize that these artists are good but yea, alot of rappers these days are missing something interesting about them that make them stand apart. tbf, we are in a transitional era (streaming to tiktok) but yea dw, we will get more super star rappers and generally more interesting rappers in a couple years alongside the currently interesting and possible super star rappers

At most I’ll give you uzi. Cartis entire selling point pre-2018 was being so blase that it looked cool. 21 had entire memes made about his monotony and Yachty was clowned for literally everything from his hair to his mannerisms

  • Mar 16, 2022

having a personality gives u staying power more than talent these days. Lil Yachty, Jack Harlow

Keem one of the more interesting of those I named and The Melodic Blue was a great project, I love it, just him as a person or rather as a persona, isn't that captivating

Lonely does nothing Carti doesn't do 1000 times better ; sound, aesthetic, persona etc etc.

The thing is that these artists are a year, maybe two, into their mainstream careers

Look at where Yachty, Carti, even Travis were in a personality sense in their early years

Making these judgements this early doesn’t help factor in the fact that people change over time

    Travis is a good example

Early-on he was very much a Cudi/Ye son but he went on to evolve into something massive

good point, I know only time will tell, I just wish I found these guys more interesting

They were clowned sure, but their personalities were their main selling points this is common knowledge?

Fr, ironically unique in rap at the time

Uzi is more fire than all of these rappers listed true. Juice was insanely fire compared to all of them in my opinion though.

Yeah Harlow is certainly the most enigmatic out of those I named, for him the quality of the music just isn't there yet, his last project was very safe

He’s just cooler version of lil d***y remastered for the 2020’s

They absolutely were not their main selling points, considering Carti didn’t have a personality to sell and Yachty literally ditched the teenage s*** for LB2

  • Mar 16, 2022

    Aren’t DaBaby, Meg, & Pop post-2016?

Edit: And Cardi depending on how strict we’re being
