He’s crediting them as being something great and different AND he clearly s***ted on hiphop prior to this with a similar quote, saying that is actual art and the only way he would be taken seriously, crediting white people as the forefront of musicality.
I never said what you said, I said he failed to realize that there are multiple people who look just like him who have already done far better than the people he chose to give credit to, such as Jimi Hendrix.
He’s not “crediting” them he’s talking about his experience with the album and how it changed his perception on whats possible with music.
