called out Collider for putting up a black square on social media but not hiring any black people
listening to the original Broadway version right now and really cool to see the little differences and changes made for the movie...most make sense IMO but wonder if we'll get an extended version with these additional songs weaved in
new Sonny on 96,000 >>>>> old Sonny on 96,000

perfectly encapsulates the entire industry
bunch of whites just pretending they're woke by hiring friendly looking people of color that can be marketed to white people to make them think they are woke for watching another culture on screen that has been white washed and made as safe as humanly possible
I blame Twitter for why Hollywood gone to s*** for perpetuating cancel culture so damn much and virtue signaling every damn time for brownie points.
Everyone seems to be sidestepping the issue over and over again, basically just telling Afro Latinos to sit down and be quiet.
I'm noticing its only non afro latinos that have a problem with the criticism
what a surprise
"we have black people singing on broadway, who gives a f*** about afro latinos, theyre basically the same thing!" - South African Trevor Noah

not what he said at all and you're implying Trevor's not qualified to have an opinion because he's not black enough...try watching the actual interview he was saying those were his initial thoughts and then allowed Lin to respond and basically say those criticisms are valid and he should do better...they both agreed the criticisms are valid...really nothing to be offended by unless you're reaching and looking for a reason to keep s***ting on Lin...Trevor's the one who brought the subject up in the first place if he wanted to disregard those critiques he would have just not discussed it
also Lin did not do the casting for the film...two white people did...nobody's getting on their case though because of course he's the face of the play since he wrote it (when he was 19 at that)
if you're going to post the video why not also post her apology that she issued today for the way she went about defending her friend and brushing off those concerns which she admitted was wrong
s*** I might snatch up the vinyl...imagine my disbelief when one critic said this is a musical without songs SMH
Feels a bit like a coke commercial
Surprised the after credits scene wasn’t Lin Manuel Miranda handing a cop a piragua at BLM protest like Kendall Jenner.

Stop trying to brush this off like she's sincere about her apology. I'm done arguing with you because I can clearly see you're not trying to take this seriously, you want to blindly enjoy this so you can go back to whatever bubble you were in before anyone started criticising this films poor representation of Afro Latinos in a predominately Afro Latino neighbourhood. Oh, and by the way, this is the same Rita who was said this s*** in her memoir and you want to tell me she actually cares about black lives? f*** off

1. I did not bring up Miranda at all or blame him for this. My issues with this extend much moreso to the fact this whole thing feels like a schlocky diversity propaganda ad created by whites than something genuine. The colorism criticisms are valid but hardly the reason I’d say why this movie is trash.
2. My whole point is that from people like these white critics to Rita Moreno to Trevor Noah, it’s all people who don’t belong to the Afro Latino community speaking for them and saying their criticisms are unfair and it perfectly proves why this criticism is valid because the truth is there is very little representation for this community and it shows when all these big names are going on tv or the internet to say this is not a big deal. I actually respect Miranda’s response the most from these trash ass critics and celebs because he’s the only one to acknowledge it is a valid criticism and that he admits he can do better. I haven’t heard this trash ass director do anything beyond essentially say “I’m glad you asked” when questioned about it either.
Also what the f*** does “not black enough” have to do with anything? He’s not Afro Latino, hes South African. What the f*** is he doing speaking for a community he has zero idea of? The fact you think there’s a level of blackness one must attain to speak on these issues shows how f***ing backward you are and the people you support making this trash ass woke bait bullshit.
i enjoyed the movie but i do think it can be improved alot with better casting that also represents the people of washington heights better
its crazy to see how much of an issue colorism is all over the world
no matter if its all the way in south asia with bollywood or in america and south america
this movie wouldve been perfect to fight against that but it didnt
It's not my intention to offend or upset anyone...I agree that Afro Latinos should have been represented stronger in the play/film...as someone who is not from Washington Heights and is admittedly ignorant when it comes to those neighborhood dynamics I watched the film and loved it...it was great seeing a predominantly Latino cast singing great music and seemingly having the time of their lives and found the story to be very inspiring...I want ppl to support this film so we can get more films like it but also understand there needs to be more attention paid to those accuracies and don't fault anyone for bringing those concerns up
I'm sorry if I offended anyone...going to stop talking about this now as it's clearly not my place
