Tbh academics and professors are kinda cringe
Like obv there is a massively important aspect to them but like 95% are massive egos that arent actually as smart and important as they would like to believe.
Its like theyre in such a circlejerk part of society they probably cant even help but get an overload of ego boost
That applies to 95% if all humans why you signal out academics
I think some do it purposely, and then for the others that come from those background, they're so surrounded by it that they might not even realize the barrier of certain language they use
I'll keep it real ill be throwing out words I don't even fully understand cause they sound good sometimes
Had 2 confess that.

even a broken clock is right twice a day
language is beautiful, let them fully utilize it
Agreed
But if you’re trying to get a point across or explain something to someone, all the extra s*** won’t get the job done. Shows it’s less about the sharing of information and more about swinging ur pp
Weird thread , are you the word police. Language is beautiful and there's many underutilized words
I hate when ppl use utilizing over using
Just say use 😭
Motherfucker lmao
ion no wtf that mean either i just wanted to post a smart quote
That phrase just means even somebody who's usually a dumbass can be correct sometimes

I agree with the second part of ur sentence
but the point of the op was that academics get to a certain point where they're just circlejerking about their intelligence instead of making it easier for more people to understand.
It's like if you're so intelligent why can't you make an effort to explain things in more easily understandable terms unless you get off on feeling like you're smarter than everyone..
Americana too
I mean it depends on who their intended audience is. A lot of the time, things in academics are written in a way to make it clear and precise for people who are in the field, but to outsiders might seem confusing. That’s because their intention is to further develop the field, not as much to inform the masses

It depends like the guy below said. If I'm talking to another academic person why hold back ? If I am on a podcast people have the time to look it up. If I'm in a casual setting then you're right it's just weird
