Idk how you change that without more moderation or added functionality. Those don't ever seem to be in the cards. Look at Mallard Duck's thread history rn man.
We've floated changing the genre tags into something useful since that seems easy to implement. Social Media vs New Music vs Serious or something like that. As is, it's just a game of farming engagement and they just copy whoever is doing that on Twitter already.
You can't downvote it, you can't sage it- if you call them a dumbass you bump it. Interactions are all that matter to them, and you're saying that's what you want.

Moderation can help a little but functionality is gonna be needed to make a real difference

It would help with the auto mod
10+ reports in a certain time frame = mute
30+ = suspender for a certain amount of days
100+ = auto ban plus ip ban
I like this idea, a more thought over version of this system might be the best solution

What's the issue with a thread based on a current Twitter topic or news? If it breeds conversation with opposing takes from the situation it seems fine to me, you could always just leave the thread
