“I just watched “Bones & All” and it was very good but definitely for acquired tastes. Definitely not the Guadagnino of the summery “Call Me By Your Name” and “I Am Love.” It felt like a mix of Antonioni and Romero. Guadagnino has made a movie that is almost plotless along with static actions and detached storytelling. The main character Maren eats people. Her mother abandons Maren right after her 16th birthday, so she travels across the country to find her father. She meets and falls for Chalamet’s character along the way and you keep wondering if her “urges” will get the better of her with this guy. There’s graphic cannibalism and a friend I saw it with thought the film was “despicable” and “the work of an unstable director”. He was very angry about it. I thought it was as bold a statement as “Suspiria” but this time Guadagnino added a road movie/YA approach along with the horror.”
