he spent years on this one vs. just 72 hours on the last one ha
to be fair you can spend 10 years on an album and have it sound uninspired or underwhelming
It’s not my favorite Lupe project but I don’t think it’s bad at all
Lu’s flow sounds very calm and relaxed on most of these tracks
Not sure if I like this or DMIZ more
They're about the same but this edges out dmiz for me. I can tell this one was worked on more than dmiz
The polarization is lowkey a good sign
As pure music this is Lupe’s best most coherent statement with the most clear artistic intent
Lowkey most of his albums are somewhat all over the place musically. I guess Tetsuo is the other exception
I absolutely love the hooks and beats
The breakdown is nice to have too
I'm the Number 1 headband wearer
Walk it like I talk it, never false it(Fawcett) like Farrah
I'm still weighing on whether this beats T&Y (that's my #1 of his), this feels tighter & more compact but idk
The whole moment & experience leading up to T&Y dropping elevates that album for me, makes it hit harder with the whole circumstance surrounding it. it still has insane replay value too
I think this'll be regarded as better than his other post-Lasers projects over time tho, mostly because of the reach it seems to have with wider folk this time
Time will be very kind to Drogas Wave

DW is creeping into my top 3 in his disco tbfh
DW is creeping into my top 3 in his disco tbfh
His most ambitious project no cap
This album wouldn’t have come out for another 3 years if not for Chilly 🤔
Sounds crazy, but lupe probably having to wear the other hats with him locked up probably made putting things out more effort than it was worth
I want to enjoy these songs but lupe needs hook writers and performers because him being cheap and doing it himself ain’t it.
I can’t enjoy cake bro every time I hear the hook I’m like

still hate that hook
every other hook is beautiful tho. palaces, til eternity, samurai

i can see this take being right talking about "cake" but every other hook fits perfectly into the Amy/Jazzy type of sound . he did that on purpose (obviously)
man, this album feels like Lupe at peace in way.
need to dive into the lyrics, but his flow and the beats are just flowing fr. good chill album
Not sure if I like this or DMIZ more
definitely this one. beats are little more focused throughout this album
It's the performances/delivery and mixing of most of the hooks that I don't like.
I don't hate the hook to outside anymore but it could've been delivered and mixed better or had a different vocalist perform it.
And he recorded this at home on a $100 usb mic and its apparent if you're into mixing/engineering.
Songs structures are very safe.
Production is fine but messing that extra umph and texture to it.
The drums on no.1 headband sound like VST "live" drums instead of actual live drums but I could be wrong and I hate the scatting at the beginning.
It be technical things about this and DMIZ that turns me off.
I give both of those albums a 7 out of 10.
All these songs are solid but could definitely be better with more polish.
And Lu is top 3 to me (#2) and used to be my goat for the longest.
This album concept and sound remind of Miles by Blu but no where near on that level, I f*** with the first 2 tracks though
3rd verse on No. 1 Headband is verse of the year. Not sure it can be beat. I have the “who farted” face going for the entire verse
