It's the performances/delivery and mixing of most of the hooks that I don't like.

I don't hate the hook to outside anymore but it could've been delivered and mixed better or had a different vocalist perform it.

And he recorded this at home on a $100 usb mic and its apparent if you're into mixing/engineering.

    Songs structures are very safe.

Production is fine but messing that extra umph and texture to it.

The drums on no.1 headband sound like VST "live" drums instead of actual live drums but I could be wrong and I hate the scatting at the beginning.

It be technical things about this and DMIZ that turns me off.

I give both of those albums a 7 out of 10.

All these songs are solid but could definitely be better with more polish.

And Lu is top 3 to me (#2) and used to be my goat for the longest.

I do agree that he probably should start going back to a established studio or just upgrading his home one

don't tamper with or sample my songs unless you strong"

i'm glad i gave this another listen, really enjoyed it. Cake is my clear least favorite, and Outside. the rest of the tracks are pretty f***in dope. bro's pen is insane.

for someone who has recorded and released as much music as he has, i appreciate the 30 minute project. nice and cohesive

LUPE FIASCO: Not necessarily. To land on the technical part just a little bit more — in the class I teach at MIT, we’re developing this unit about rap portraiture, kind of standardizing what it means to create a portrait. Throughout my career, there have been examples of me doing portraiture, some public, some private. One of the public pieces is called “Big Energy” — no shade to Latto. I got commissioned for a documentary about D*** Gregory, and it was like, “Can you make a record documentary?” So, I decided I’m gonna make a portrait of D*** Gregory.

That D*** Gregory track, and the Juneteenth track from 2022 are so underrated. Some of my favorite modern Lupe songs!
