    So someone explain wtf he’s actually saying on mural

    Those lyrics are f***ing bullshit and not good at all

    We're all chemicals, vitamins and minerals

    To see the vein like a chicken on the barn
    Top Cat chat, let's begin another yarn
    That's flying saucer cheese, or is it chicken parm'?

    It’s cool to say that but admit that most people don’t agree. And that’s fine too

    Kendrick has such a greater reach than Lupe will ever have.

    Lupe is just as talented conceptually and lyrically but artistically is where Kendrick separates himself.

    he was just luckier/smarter in the team that surrounds him

    lupe got caught in label s*** and that pushed him back a lot unfortunately

    still two goats on their own right

    Lupe has the opportunity now to make whatever record he wants. His label was an issue but it also came down to is artistry. He doesn’t do it now because it’s not his speed. He doesn’t have that in his arsenal and that’s ok.

    1. Tetsuo & Youth is def a classic.
    2. Lupe is just better than Kendrick. But he’s better than a lot of people so that’s not crazy.

    Great thread OP lol

    just to be clear on the "critic bait" s*** so it doesn't seem as vapid

    its not the topics - nothing wrong with what kendrick is saying

    its the oversaturated last minute additional jazz instrumentation and production , skits and interludes that bother me and felt forced to please white critics

    the tpab singles were beautiful and powerful anthems without the added production, "i", "the blacker the berry" , specially "alright" and then he added this knockoff d'angelo black messiah (which is an absolutely brilliant album) jazz production to make them please the industry and the grammy's

    when he doesn't need none of that s*** , talking on the singles he ruined "I" on the album, "alright" was overproduced it would have been his biggest single ever if he kept it simpler, and even "blacker the berry" on the album has some additional boring unnecessary production to please white critics that despise rap but love jazz

    my cornball rich art school fake hippie colleagues loved the album "and they don't like his other stuff because it doesn't feel as legit", it makes me want to slap them in the face, just because they hear thundercat jamming it makes them discredit k-dots other work

    just to keep this clear I still think the album is like an 8.5-9.0 , and im not hating on kendrick, I just believe the last minute over instrumentation and the pseudo deep s*** ruined the lasting appeal of most of the songs

    @queuemiller

    Havent you ever considered that he wanted to use black sounds like funk, jazz, hip hop etc to pay homage to black culture which is a major theme in the album?
    I dont understand why yall tpab haters always tryna downplay kendrick's work because your white friends liked it. Plenty of albums have interludes and i dont see what's so critic bait about a poem that's stretched throughout the whole album. Like i said, critic bait is lazy, empty criticism that people use to somehow explain why they dont like an album thats loved by everybody else

    Ignoring Section 80. and the trash that Lupe's label imposed him in F&L2 and LASERS

    F&L = GKMC / TC >= TPAB / T&Y > DAMN

    even Drogas Wave and Drogas Light can be compared to Untitled Unmastered. in terms of loosies ( even tho the first disk of drogas wave is a brilliant album of his own, but the second part is just loosies )

    also can we finally acknowledge that Tetsuo & Youth is a f***ing classic

    I can agree with this,, but Kendrick's music hits harder bc of how "simple" they are (not a bad kinda simple,but it's more palatable for the casual listener)

    Meh, I barely notice any differences between OG and album version of TBTB

    Fab’s version of Alright was cool, but I prefer the Kendrick’s since the mixing was better and drums went hardsr

    I agree the mixing is trash on Fabolous version , but I prefer the cleaner production much more
