I think he was a master of songwriting metaphorical rap (as I like to call it) to a mainstream crowd which can be severely left underground, so he’s ranked highly for me, personally

He would be filling the same niche as his later career did, but in an extremely less saturated market imo

Then again the final album of the trilogy was supposed to be full rap, so maybe he'd be making better versions of GOOD AM which was a pretty big breath of fresh air when it came out
