spotify is the worst for this s***. Sooo many spotify users talk about artists in the sense that they listen to them, but don't know them.
when the newcomer releases a classic mixtape and you basically knew they would turn into legends
not sure this ghost guy knows what he's arguing or talking about actually

Lmao I kind of get what you mean but the way you phrased it is funny. As if you actually “know” an artist because you’ve listened to all their music.
the vinyl community exists and the dj community too has a love for crate digging and picking out records to tune into that they would have never had come across on Spotify.
i know where you're coming from though the algorithm is a double-edged sword.

Its disingenuous to categorize everyone with one label, when in reality, music culture is booming, there is more and more discourse about old acts and new acts everywhere on social media.
Sure the mainstream is always there(which is not a bad thing at all, some amazing music is out there too) but we are in a golden age for "discovering music".
Every era is at the tip of your fingers.
Just listen what you want to listen.
A lot of tracks on tiktok are older music so theyre deff discovering new music

If anything it's easier than ever to discover music thanks to playlists. I've found so many artists I never would've listened to otherwise.
I havent used it in a while but Spotifys ‘similiar artist’ feature is a good rabbit hole to dive into for finding more stuff that isnt on playlists
Rnbxclusive and blackandbeatsvibes was my go to lmao going through each track and listening to the snippet before downloading
Put all my friends on new music
Bro streaming has made it so you can discover and research music more than you ever could before and vinyls are still lowkey popular and still essential to music lovers

nah i mean like I know who bladee is, I've seen plenty of music videos, I know who drain gang is, I know his aesthetic and all that.
My gf listens to some of his songs bc they showed up on her spotify playlist, but she doesn't know what drain gang is or what they're about.
so i know bladee, she listens to bladee
