cause, the world he's set up cannot be explored in -50 chapters and if he does finish it will be a 10 chapters epilogue for the hxh fans to stop b****ing kind of thing

and I dont really want that, I want more of chrollo, hisoka and gyro

plus hxh isnt the type of shounen that gets carried by its mc, even in the chimera arc, gon and killua were not the main focus of the arc

that being said, hxh could've easily ended when gon found his dad cause he really hunted the hunter if you know what I mean

the biggest issue with hxh aint the hiatus, I can easily name 5 manga that get 3 chapters a year....the problem with hxh is that togashi set up this huge world of possibilities that were never met.

Read it a couple years ago when I saw it got nominated for the Manga Taisho awards. Super charming series. I read up to where it was currently translated which was the red dragon then decided to shelve it until the entire series was finished.
