been a while i read Ito but the first work i read from him was the Enigma of Amigara Fault
do people still read chainsawman?
Last few chapters with focus on Denji and Nayuta been nice. But we are going back to Asa and war devil so hope it doesn't drag again.
just binged I am a hero over the last 2 days
Early spoilers: Incredbile start hooked me right away loved the psycological element and how morally grey everyone was
whole series spoilers: from the bathhouse on things start to just get bad. The lolita romance was uncomfortable. Nothing gets explained. Any character development suzuki gets goes away by the end. Final battle was dumb af with nonsense twists every 2 pages. Overall ass
would not reccomend but one of the strongests starts to a a manga i've read recently
Can't believe I'm almost finally caught up with Hunter x Hunter after putting it aside so many times for so many years.
The content after the anime is so esoteric.
Is this good?
Yeah, but it's quirky. Ishida has a peculiar style.

Was this really created by the same guy who made Tokyo Ghoul? If so, is it his best work/better than TG?

Uzumaki, Tomie and then Gyo

Yes, the same mangaka.
Good question - I'd say yes, but by thin margins.
The best parallel for Ishida's development is Togashi - first smash hit meets a premature end, but success gives them license for an experimental follow-up. For fans of TG, Choujin X is as jarring as Level E would have been to YYH acolytes.
Between TG and TG:re, Ishida switched to digital drawing, and his formal approach to manga changed. (His illustrations and streams are quite popular.) He gradually shifted from an edgy, heavy-laden jet black mode -
-- to a cleaner and more composition-focused style:
This grants Choujin X a wider range of potential emotional effects. For example, it smartly condenses an entire arc in a chapter without dialogue; this would have been impossible in TG.
The story in TG is simply superior. The foreshadowing - the way Ishida establishes and uses its symbols - its character depth - are all measures better than in Choujin X, which I sometimes find annoying for its often complete lack of seriousness. I get the impression that Ishida is taking the piss as if he were streaming or if Cx was one of his webcomics.
That said, the excellent moments in Choujin X are sincerely excellent, the themes more sophisticated. Ishida is at the peak of his artistic powers here. And the change from Kafka as the presiding in-universe influence in TG to the Hebrew Bible in Choujin X is brilliant.
did yall se ashito no joe finally getting an english release in the fall wallahi i am gona die
Hey y'all, I don't read much manga but my partner does and I'm looking for a recommendation for something similar to her likes. She mostly likes the romance stuff (I know there's a word for the genre but I'm forgetting it), mostly cutesy light-feeling stuff.
Some examples of things that are on her shelf: Paradise Kiss, Goodnight PunPun, Nana, Fruits Basket, Marmalade Boy, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. She's also super into cosmic horror and owns all the Junji Ito books. Anything you can think of that a reader of all the above stuff would enjoy? I'll take any recommendation, thank you so much!

I'd recommend Mars, an absolute classic.
I believe it perfectly balances all of the elements interesting to her based on her current bookshelf.
