So yeah I’m tired of the quirky MCU casting as of late. I’m even more tired of the “smart” take from the subset of fans who counter this ire with statements like “the way a character looks doesn’t matter only the acting does”. Nigga this isn’t based on regular literature we have established ideas on what these characters look like, even across different artists that span decades. And film is a visual medium. Why the hell should good acting and looking the part be treated as exclusive too? Like yall can’t get folks who are good actors that also look the part? If that was the case, we shouldn’t have RDJ/Evans/Hemsworth/Boseman/Jackson/Cumberbatch and I could go on honestly. But this new s***? Yeah it’s putting me off and I can confidently say I don’t think I’m the only one
Also f*** First Steps. I’m not being nice about that s*** no more. F*** the cast, f*** the cinematography, f*** the set locations, f*** the lifeless dialogue, f*** the lack of charisma or chemistry, f*** that boring and limp plot. Yes they’re good at the versions of the characters that we see on the screen, yes they’re good actors in general. But that’s not the fantastic four, I will never get behind that cast. Again, here, I see the play with the quirky casting
Same with Johnsson as T’Challa Jr. and please don’t hit me with the “he’s his son” s***, he’s supposed to fill the void of the original Black Panther and he does not evoke that. It’s like sure acting is ofc paramount, but it gets to a line with me when it comes to adapting these characters I read and love idc, after that line I either don’t care about the acting skills or that’s all that matters. In this case idc about his acting skills I don’t want that nigga as a supplement for T’Challa
And I’m wondering where the newfound quirky casting is coming from. Are they trying to get back into the good graces of RT so by doing quirky casting for major properties with “good actors” they appear to have improved taste or prestige? But at least there’s Sadie Sink and Ryan Gosling, two casting choices that feel like the pre-bad reviews Marvel who casted tastefully as well as fitting for the characters
I dont need to say much about the quirky decision to cast Tony Stark from your same universe as debut Doctor Doom. He’ll kill it for sure but that’s yet another example of the quirky s*** albeit in a different way. With that being said, please cast the X-Men close to the vest like with Sadie Sink. The X-Men is my favorite faction of the Marvel universe, I don’t wanna see none of that quirky casting bullshit; we got enough of it with Fox. And I know niggas probably not gonna like this but I had to say it
When all else fails and you realize you dont have a point or care to actually discuss just move the goal post to what fits your narrative. Rather than actually engage or listen to others. Then sprinkle in some self righteousness

says the person joking about twinks and shaved a******s in a x men reboot thread where the cast is young...
"brother"
youre white man I am not your brother
I saw that video and was like "Really? Niggas want this guy to play a superhero?
"
Bro looks like a Reddit mod. F***ed up teeth too
Could have just called this comment foul without delving into "bryan singer is a pedophile and the cast of original x men are twinks with shaved a******s"
Nigga looks like Robert Fattinson
like you can call comments calling him fat, reddit mod with f***ed up teeth ignorant without derailing the thread to say "x men movies were created by a zionist pedophile "

Read the post but it feels slightly vague . Me personally I’m open to them casting whoever as long as they get the soul and writing of the character . I get for some people will want them to look like character as well as costume design . In all likelihood they will cast 20s or early 30s for these roles . Especially if Sadie jean so more x men evolution type
I still whole heartedly believe that X-men needs to be directed by a black person. Like, period.

Blade hasn’t even had a black director and directors attached to mcu blade weren’t black either

It should've been Ryan Coogler tbh I liked the way he respected and dipected Mayan culture with Namor and Irish culture with Remmick while he himself is not part of those cultures so he would've been great for X-Men who's team can get very diverse

1000%
should have been automatic.
Lmao they’re trying to get the LETTERBOXD NIGGAS AFTER THEY LOST RT 🤣 🤣
RT had a much bigger influence on the perception of the MCU pre-Phase 4 than anyone realizes; one could argue the same of post-Phase 4 MCU. That is not to say RT scores are connected to “quality” or that everyone consciously uses RT as gospel, however; glowing RT scores paired with the novelty of unabashed superhero films being not only critically acclaimed but critically crowned was a staple selling point of the MCU’s prime. It worked even unconsciously. The DCEU was even a perfect yin to the MCU’s yang because of the DCEU’s famously bad RT scores
When the MCU finally got a rotten score there was palpable shock in the air. This becomes a repeated thing for Marvel, thus that mythic air of an unshakable foundation of satisfactory quality was blown in a more symbolic sense…or tangible which depends on how much one values RT
So now I think they’re going for the aforementioned Letterboxd niggas. But the thing is it might not even be literally Letterboxd niggas. Simply a certain type of audience, hell it could be A24 mfs. But that’s who Marvel seems to be going for rn
feige is scared of black people
