The label didn’t push Rebirth quite as much. It had its videos and live performances but wayne wasn’t everywhere promoting it like how he was with C3. I’d also guess and say he didn’t do many features around that time but consider khaled regularly enlists him that’s probably not truue.
In 09 going into 10, Wayne was hot af.
Prom Queen threw people off but he was still hopping on every other person's track and pushing Drake as his new protege.
Niggas loved the collabs they did together that year.
Also, Wayne didn't really promote C4 all that much either. He just got out of jail and was dropping singles at random dates. The Young Money empire was strong af though and they shared a lot of the same fans which might explain why the fw sales were so high.
They don't realize the bilboard numbers are audited thats why jayz buying a million copies multiple times didnt count. Thats how they are able to determine if a credit card bought 1 or 4+ copies etc.
JayZ buying a million copies is different. They bought a million copies and gave them away for free for Sprint subscribers, and you could get it even if you didn’t have Sprint.
Unless there’s a different situation I’m forgetting
Edit : wait I’m thinking of 4:44 i forget the details with the MCHG stuff
I mean, what’s he trying to say ? First week album sales numbers are an interesting way to consider a rapper’s relevancy. Obv it doesn’t have to mean anything, a la Post Malone and Stoney, but obviously it can gauge a few things. Not really sure why he’s s***ting on labels when his friend Jay runs one the same way the others do. Doubt he’d bother to tweet abt it if he did 150k first week🤷 kinda reminds me of kids in school who can’t accept the didn’t get an A and cope w grades aren’t everything or whatever
Ever since 50 cent shifted the focus from music to numbers and Wayne went “platinum first week” billboard has been a joke.
This is such a historically illiterate take
So why should Philly buy Ross album?
That’s 2010. We can’t say let people grow as they go and then use their past statements against them. Pick a side and stick to it.
Meeks last album did 95K. Y’all talking like he fell off
Did more than Young Thug with less popular features
They don’t wanna acknowledge this tho brah did the same as Meek with a drake feature at that.

Drake, J. Cole, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Nate Ruess, Doja Cat, & Mac Miller features
People who hate numbers talk about them more then people who like them
he's got a point about the friday s***

I mean he was only like 5k away from 100k. It’s not like he fell off or anything tho.

It’s like context is nonexistent on here lol. One is an post prison album that was hyped and had a Drake feature after their beef so there was more buzz. Plus it had a Hov, Cardi, and Kodak etc on there. A lot of promo went into that album. Expensive pain didn’t have a huge promo run like championship did. Plus meek in that OG role at this point of his career anyway.

His album right before Championships also did 100k. So it's how you frame it.

It had more pre same amount of pre release singles as ChaMpsionships did lol. Flamerz Flow, BabyDurk (which was hyped from the snippet) and Blue Notes II.
And champions Oodles Noodles and fab song dropped like a week before album, expensive pain singles got nice space between to build hype - they just couldnt lol. Esp the Durk Baby Meek song... that snippet was everywhere and then it dropped and it just didnt go crazy.
