I been here for 14 months. First professional job out of college. I’m exhausted and burnt out. Been that way since April but thugged it out. But the stress and burn has caught up to me and manifesting in ways I didn’t see coming.

Been getting pay bumps throughout the year, but the pay is meh $25k. I developed a solid portfolio here and I think I’ll be okay if I leave, but I keep hearing how s*** the job market is and how it’s not a quitting economy.

I know people say to not quit without having another job lined up, but I’m so burnt out - like chronically burnt out - that I’m afraid I would bring this baggage into my next job. I also just don’t have time to apply for jobs, and I don’t think I can be working here much longer.

I’m planning on emailing management later today and let them know that I’d like to talk about role after tomorrow’s zoom meeting, and then just quit tomorrow and given them my 2 weeks notice. But I’m having 2nd thoughts. Tips?

why dont you take a couple days off / vacation before you make any decisions. Quitting and not having another gig lined up is not smart.

I debated asking for two weeks off today, but I’d technically be working still since I have a project due the week right after. I’m also not sure they’ll grant my request since it’s a bit last minute

    YOLO

Wish I could do the same man, so burnt out as well. But just thuggin it out as well rn. Don't know how good of an idea it would be to leave without another job lined up, I personally wouldn't want to do that unless I feel so fukd and tired of the job.

Maybe quiet quit? Start doing the bare minimum to get by while applying for other jobs?

You have to ask yourself if the uncertainty and effort required to not slip up into a rabbithole of f***ed circumstances from quitting is worth letting go of whatever bs youre dealing with. Im sure youve seen all the stuff about the job market rn but f*** tht it may still be worth it lol

    Life is short

A lot of factors. Do you have enough money saved to keep a roof over your head for the next ~3 months? If not save until you do, then quit.

Dont quit without a solid plan of income on the way out. Trust me dog the job market aint sweet out here, you might end up in application hell for months.

If you have time try to calm yourself. Then try thinking about how to better your situation. You sound like you are in panic right now. Rent is going to be due whether you are burned out or not. Do your job.

That’s what I’m afraid of honestly. Before landing this job I was in application hell for over a year.

But I thought it was cus I had barely any experience, you saying even with experience now I, or really anyone, could be stuck for months with the way things are now?

He's living with his parents, friendly helper. That makes the decision easier imo

He sounds like he knows what to do already. Only thing I would stress a little is to not get paralyzed. Don't let little failures, rejections etc make you doubt yourself. @op

Quitting is for losers anyway! Just imagine being unemployed around the holidays, and your parents is gonna look at you like a bum. Its not worth it

    1. Take a 1 week vacation
    2. Persevere with the burnout (it builds character)
    3. Enjoy not paying rent and stack up
    4. Write down all the projects and accomplishments you've done and apply to new jobs in the interim.

Are you not applying to other places? You should be doing at least 10 indeed type applications a day as bare minimum effort

Also I quit my previous job for this job. I interviewed mid day in my car for stuff. Make it work bro

Don’t do it man you’ll regret it trust me. Go inwards, meditate. And when you sleep, really let yourself and your mind go. Sleep on your left side, it clears out the psyche, chemically speaking.

Don’t let yourself down. What doesn’t kill you eventually makes you stronger no movie cap

NVM just quit , just saw you make 25k, unemployment checks are probably bigger than that.

  • Sep 25, 2024

I was in a similar situation. I guess be a you are starting out but if you can get one high paying job you can do it again and if you don’t like something about your life change it if not you don’t really care that much you have to bet on yourself I got a internship this week that hopefully if I get the offer it’s good pay plus the best commute for me. Good luck though op

Love yall for the advice seriously. Ima request time off then and try to recharge in the meantime while I apply for jobs.

Question, but is it normal to request two weeks, starting next week, midweek like this? I hate to ask but this joint is so unorganized lol, I don’t even know the policy or even if I have paid time off smh

As a huge Drake fan if you don’t know your PTO policy you probably don’t get any

Usually jobs want you to request off two weeks ahead of time but for 25k I’m requesting off whenever I feel like it
