25k!!!!!! Burnout ain’t worth that, that’s the kinda bread you deal with IF you passionate about your job or have a clear route to what you want. Take stock before making moves but it ain’t worth putting yourself through the stress.

Love yall for the advice seriously. Ima request time off then and try to recharge in the meantime while I apply for jobs.

Question, but is it normal to request two weeks, starting next week, midweek like this? I hate to ask but this joint is so unorganized lol, I don’t even know the policy or even if I have paid time off smh

It’s not normal but as drake fan said it depends on the environment and policy in place

Look into ur policy if u still have quick access to handbook and policies. Or ask a coworker. It’s either accrued time or a set amount of days per year in terms of how much time you have that’s paid

2 weeks before day you need off is the general standard courtesy but it depends on environment and how much ur asking off. Taking off for 2 whole weeks is hella long and that’s a normal persons whole yearly PTO in USA unless u have a good time off policy. For that long I would put it 2 weeks minimum in advance personally otherwise they might look at u funny

Also remember time off only counts business days generally so u need 5 days off work not 7 if u want 7 days straight off but sometimes ppl forget and think they need more

Keep your job until you have something else lined up, the job market is terrible. When you make the switch, give 2 week notice, but tell your new job you can only start another 3-4 weeks after that so you can have a few weeks break.

I've quit with nothing lined up a few times.. but in my field you can find a job if things get too desperate. I wouldn't do it if I were you though.

25k? You working for Nucky Thompson??

  • just call in sick and tell them you are burnt out. if they fire you at least you can get severance . quitting without income / reserves is a bad idea.

Work just feels like constant cycles of making it to Friday so I can have a break for a couple of days before it starts all over again Don't know if I can do this for years

25k in america sounds like a nightmare

  • Sep 25, 2024

if youre still living with your parents you might as well quit and take your time recharging because you wont have that option if you burn out and you already have obligations lined up eg rent payments etc. should be better for you in the long term

  • can use the sick time to do some soul searching and reconnect with self.

Quitting a job without having anything lined up in 2024 is genuinely one of the dumber things you could ever do

Have you thought about a part time job? A lot of retailers have raised their wages and you’ll pretty much make what you making now only working 30 hours a week. I would look into that since they are usually always hiring cause that little money to be burnt out doesn’t sound good. Do that while you look for something better.

Don't let people scare you away from quitting your job and searching for different and new. You are in your early 20s im assuming. I wont say you have time to figure s*** out because idk if you are trying to figure anything out at all but MOVE AROUND find what you like, also gain other skills outside of your education, the workforce is still vast believe me you just have to really do what it is you do be deliberate when you move. Now would be an ideal time to explore. If you decide to quit make the most of your time. Exercise, read and read into things like niche careers you can suscribe to in your free time and how the money moves within those particular fields and how to break into it. Workout keep your mind sharp and it will take you exactly where you are supposed to be.

why dont you take a couple days off / vacation before you make any decisions. Quitting and not having another gig lined up is not smart.

NVM just quit , just saw you make 25k, unemployment checks are probably bigger than that.

Can you get those checks if you quit?
