Shiiit you right but aye he made it work in 2016 he had his hand in like 4 great albums I think
More than that
I think he thought he could still make a MBDTF quality project. And I know some of the properties of this rollout stem from other avenues than MBDTF, but I think he tried to channel a lot of that roll out here.
I believe somewhere in the crafting of the project, he just realized that he himself doesn’t have that same music ability. Maybe the Rubins and the Deans were a big part of it, but I always thought the biggest thing Kanye stood out in, is that he could craft a project better than anyone. Transitions, momentum, track lists. Post Yeezus, I think he just lost it (or he stopped listening to the people who helped him Idk)
You’d have a better chance collecting all 7 Dragon Balls than Kanye making another MBDTF
2021 halfway over and all we got is a durk x baby collab album to show for it
Oh well
slowthai
yep lmao
donald real asf for this scene bruh
nobody knows how ass a lot of engineers have it
Not even sure what the point of these album streams followed by radio silence is all about, and those engineers probably don't even have an ETA either.
Is he waiting on feedback and then changing things, or are we just invited to witness raw musical creation and the process of how tracks come together piece by piece?
If it's the former then I'd rather it release organically without opinions influencing the art.
He used to drop that s*** late as hell too, tf u talking bout. I think Christian Dior Denim Flow came out on a Tuesday or something
You said Kanye used to drop Good Fridays on time, which he almost never did
as an engineer myself i can understand this lowkey lol
most engineers (mike included) are artists too. Outside of a studio, we're on a (somewhat) level field with the people we record. In the studio tho, we're subordinate to the recording artist. we can make suggestions, but the dude in the booth is our boss for the duration of the session, pretty much. and that atmosphere definitely continues with editing and touching up post-recording. as corny as it sounds we definitely dont get enough respect lol.
I'd assume working w a guy like Kanye who expects the best from everyone had to be pretty stressful, especially considering the fact that most people don't really understand what engineering entails, and how difficult some things may be. Just asking us to "make it sound better" is a monumental task. We can get rid of obvious problems just fine, but it's kanye we're talking about, I'm sure whatever producers he's using and equipment he's got avoids any obvious issues (even though there are some crazy sub vs bass mixing moments in the livestreams that must have been hell to engineer). past that point tho, it's all personal stuff. when it comes to specifics, the "best" sound is a very personal thing, different people will give you different answers.
the donda process has seemed absurdly drawn out, im sure many questionable decisions have been made. it really seems like mike has been handed a subpar product and been told to make it stellar, but while bad mixing can break a song, good mixing alone can't make a song.
stupid large post but idc, if u didn't read just ignore
we need more artists that engineer too in the mainstream. theyd be more understanding to the process.
Niggas dont be knowing a LOOOOOT of these leaks in the last few years are the product of engineers being fed up lol.

I think that’s because Kanye the musician peaked with that project, and Kanye the everything else started mattering more
I give him tons of props for still making classic music after entering the fashion industry as a brand creator, but no human can be that level of artist while putting more effort into another industry. And he’s clearly been putting more into other things since about 2015ish

Can't imagine the rapport they have developed since working on CD together. Must be like brothers that get pretty heated when they argue.
im just glad ye ended my personal emotional attachment to his music.
definitely not suprised if this gets yandha'd/turbo graf'd
And even after everything I’m saying, I think the s*** he played in that second livestream is still a 8/10 album, maybe even a lil better if they ended up cutting some fat off that track list. Hopefully someone can come in and really reach deep into Ye and get him to get that

I didn’t listen to anything besides Hurricane
I already knew once these “listening parties” started he was gonna do this
After the JIK fiasco I just stopped trusting Kanye’s word on any release date

Plus being harassed by fans aking where donda is and making memes about him being locked up
they dont be solid points at all lol. people have asked you are you happy about anything because you hate so much lol.
I got plenty of liked and discussion from folks who agree with me and only cursed out by those who feel offended wgat that tell u

crazy all these tweaks and high celebrity features and this is still the best version

You think ye adding so many feats to get numbers and because he can’t finish the album on his own?
crazy all these tweaks and high celebrity features and this is still the best version
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzq232yBoYcNigga could get damn near anyone in the industry on this album and the rollout is still s***
You think ye adding so many feats to get numbers and because he can’t finish the album on his own?
Probably because he genuinely likes them
I doubt Kanye cares about numbers like that but maybe I’m wrong
You think ye adding so many feats to get numbers and because he can’t finish the album on his own?
What were the features again?
iirc it's like Baby, Cudi and Travis. Who else?
