I like the singles and think this will be good
Hopefully man, about to listen to it in a moment
It takes a lifetime to ever figure out that there
There ain't no lifetime that's ever figured out
I look at the cover then at some of the best tracks on here and i can picture this being a very solid album. Altho in reality, it's very hit or miss.... You got some of the most unispired and generic songs MM ever made on this. Even the highs feel too reminiscent of stuff in Good News or We Were Dead but I'll take F*** Your Acid Trip, We're Lucky, Lace Your Shoes and Wooden Soldiers. Really like those
Albums pretty good imo. Transmitting Receiving is kind of a dud but it's also a surprisingly chill, almost drone piece if you let it be one.

Glad you enjoyed it! Maybe it will grow on me on further listens. What's your fav tracks so far?

Wooden Soldier is an all time great Modest Mouse song for me
Also really digging Walking and Running, We're Lucky, Back to the Middle, and Never F*** A Spider

Yeah that one is definitely a highlight. We're Lucky is beautifully as well, wish it was longer tbh

We're Lucky is fantastic yeah, gives me whale song vibes
Gonna listen now at work. Any good?
I mean it’s not terrible so far. But it’s kinda sad to hear after how much I love their older stuff . Just doesn’t hit the same
Just finished
Honestly… not bad
Their best album since their 2007 one. Easily better than their last one. Some decent tunes on this. I like this style they are going for here… kinda dad rock tunes
I think this is why it’s just ok. it doesn't even sound like Modest Mouse, but some band on Spotify that they push on you because you listened to a Modest Mouse album. It's like MM recorded music to be played over the speakers at a Whole Foods.
But it’s not bad lol

I get what you're saying. Kinda feel the same about it
Tho gave it a second listen on the car today and enjoyed it a bit more.
Feel like some songs needed a bit more variation and build up, like old MM stuff. Songs like Stars are projectors, Teeth Like Gods Shoeshine or even Spitting Venom, where they progress into these different stages. It helps to give a sense of dynamism and a satisfying structure
A lot of stuff on the new album could have used these experimentations. Would have been a lot more memorable and impacting... We're Lucky is beautiful but too short and ultimately feels like it could have hit harder.
Album has great ideas tbf although they played it really safe on this and it shows
its better than strangers but not by much honestly. bttm is ridiculously good
