    DAMN isn’t influential at all

Just came on here to say that DAMN and Blonde are both great albums and I will not partake in pitting one genius against another.

Blonde is pretty influential especially for only being 5 years

    Choker
    Sza
    Rocky
    Kendrick
    Lorde
    Daniel Caesar
    Blood Orange

And the others that people listed itt

Idk where you see Blonde in Brent tbh. The clearest one is Daniel Caesar. But idk about Moses Sumney man, just speaking on aromanticism. Other than blurring genres, not seeing it.

you gotta go ahead and listen to grae then cuz that s*** oozes with it. also brent's latest singles from the do not listen EP are blonde-esque man.

Lorde herself said made the Louvre right after hearing blonde and being inspired by its song structures and arrangements

    fun guy

People really think Blonde's wasn't influential? Literally every art-hoe artist (Clairo, Steve Lacy, Choker, Brockhampton) post 2016 has been inspired by Blonde in some way, as well as Tyler, Rocky, and SZA

  • Feb 24, 2021

Blonde is waaaaaaaaay more influential. You can hear its influence on some many newer artists / albums.

I don’t see it and refrain from the personal attacks before I cook your b**** ass

I really can’t tell. How could you not hear the start similarities in those two tracks? The breezy, light synths, the birds and whooshing wind that create atmosphere and space in the under the 6/8 meter.. mirrored bongo accents in the underlining of production. The influence is clear. SZA even said that she’d possibly ask Ocean for a feature..

    billboard.com/amp/articles/news/9515725/sza-good-days-frank-ocean

And then for you to say that Frank makes ‘clear’ RnB is false, being that Blonde has a lot more atmospheric and dreamy pop psychedelia than CTRL, which takes a few influences but has a stronger RnB (specifically neo soul) foundation. You may be suffering from a degree of amusia.. respectfully, ofcourse.. especially if your ears can’t discern tonal relationships in sound.

DAMN. influenced so few people that every rap video since 2018 looks like HUMBLE.

They’re both only influential from an aesthetic standpoint, but Blonde moreso

Honestly HUMBLE is more influential than DAMN itself. The simple fart 808 trap style beat today blew up after HUMBLE. Damn near every semi “artsy urban” video or commercial in the last three years is influenced by the visual language of the HUMBLE video. Just some examples:

    huh, never noticed this
    great points!

Lowkey Blond. I don't really see what DAMN influenced, it was just Kendrick but more streamlined.

With that being said, I feel like GKMC and TPAB even, were more influential than both Blond and DAMN.

  • mothership

I’ll play DAMN a thousand times before I play blonde but blonde is way more influential. You haven’t seen the influx of pretentious alternative pop singers with dyed hair and a summery aesthetic?

  • Feb 24, 2021

Niggas really get off talking about Blonde influence
