Flashback to 2009: one of the worst years in hip-hop history. You had some great albums(MOTM, OB4CL2, Born Like This) but overall it was bad. The Ecstatic marks a late-career cult classic in Mos' inconsistent discography. The production on this album is bonkers, even in 2020. Lyrically it's Mos' best since Black on Both Sides and even the rap features are amazing(Slick Rick, Talib Kweli).
I hate how they removed this from streaming
I just bought a CD copy off the internet for like $11, and that's the cheapest I've seen it tbh. I heard there's some label drama but idk if thats true or not

I was always under the impression it was sample clearance

its the same thing with Kanye on I Thought About Killing You, what is so hard about clearing a sample when you have money like that???
Its basically stealing
One of the best rap albums ever
Definitely stands the test of time. I prefer BoBS(that's my top 10 album OAT) but this is up there.

Clearing samples is easier said than done
Sometimes the originator is tight fisted

If Drake can clear samples for So Far Gone and Care Package, Kanye can do the same thing. It's just him being lazy and greedy.

The way Slick Rick starts his verse>>
Legendary s***

That might be the better album to most but I find myself going back to the ecstatic more
