Twilite Speedball one of the most chaotic Neptunes beats ever
I was saying yesterday it could’ve easily fit on Seeing Sounds but nah the aggression is waayyy different. Fits perfectly on the ecstatic

Yasiin locked in my all time top 10 rap artists tbh
Yeah he's not a rapper he's a f***ing artist
If I had to choose a favorite hiphop album this is probably it
realness intensifies
Incidentally this just got bolded on rym it seems
hopefully newcomers will listen to it as a result
the instrumentals on this are just too crazy
as someone who grew up with bollywood movies constantly playing in the house stuff like Wahid, Embassy and Auditorium hits so deep in my psyche, only a few things scratch the same itch as this
its the same thing with Kanye on I Thought About Killing You, what is so hard about clearing a sample when you have money like that???
Its basically stealing
Nah if I make a collage out of existing pictures it’s stealing? My interpretation of fair use would include sampling. Kanye is a different story and he was also sampling an active artist I believe who should’ve been easy to reach out to and he is rich so there’s not much excuse.
But sample clearance is a label issue anyway so you’re off there too. It’s not on the artist to personally do that, they used to have people at labels whose whole job was basically to clear samples. It’s not on Mos. It’s on whoever released it. Not to snitch but it Madvillainy is still going strong Idk why the Ecstatic can’t, must be one big sample that someone was mad about. F*** em though frankly, the misuse of the laws in the early 90s was partly obvious greed but likely had a racial undertone of trying to undermine hip hop.
Anyone got the link to this? I’ve never listened tbh @Sir_Swagalot

Flashback to 2009: one of the worst years in hip-hop history. You had some great albums(MOTM, OB4CL2, Born Like This) but overall it was bad. The Ecstatic marks a late-career cult classic in Mos' inconsistent discography. The production on this album is bonkers, even in 2020. Lyrically it's Mos' best since Black on Both Sides and even the rap features are amazing(Slick Rick, Talib Kweli).
