saying kendrick is overrated is like saying michael jackson overrated. at that point u just tryna be contrarian.
I did say the tiniest bit
crazy how 2Pac is the go to rapper for pseuds to discredit so they look like they know more about hip hop than they actually do
Yeah 2Pac is too influential
I can actually understand 2Pac if you talk about him in a technical rapping sense because he was much less complex than his peers, but what made him special IMO was the raw emotion in his music that really moves people
he is overrated, no rapper should take a 5 year hiatus to drop an album. This is like if Wayne took a 5 year hiatus after Carter 3 or Kanye took a 5 year hiatus after Graduation
“how dare a rapper have a life outside of music after dropping 3 of the best albums of all time back to back”
and MM&TBS isn't even that good, Kendrick's reddit make it seem like it's some sort of masterpiece but it really isn't
MMTBS not being good is literally a meme.
Album had strong songwriting, strong stories/narratives, eclectic production styles that differed from the norm in rap, is critically acclaimed, went Platinum, and sparked Kendrick's biggest tour.
The narrative about both MMTBS and Dawn FM on KTT2 is super forced and ironically driven by stan culture.
Ya'll wanted GKMC 2.0 or DAMN 2.0 but Kendrick went outside of that box. The old KTT used to slam TPAB and call it "critic bait" and now it's considered a consensus quality Kendrick album.
Ya'll are just saying anything and hoping it sticks.

For real.
At this point, saying Pac is "overrated" is a joke because tons of people downplay his skill and music these days to seem more "cultured."
Pac ironically used a lot of multis in his rhymes too but the detractors will still push the myth that he was an ABC rhymer. Also, they'll claim Pac gets carried by charisma or delivery even though his lyrics literally have been studied in universities and schools for a long time.

Nothing wrong with taking extra time to craft an album. But yeah, after TPAB his catalogue went downhill fast. I never saw the fascination with Damn. I tried several times to listen fully and could not get captivated.
Eminem has actual classics but I don't care for them and his newer s*** is ass
Cole is a respectable dude with really good features but he's always been more of a jack of all trades, master of none artist that's competent as a rapper and producer but not amazing at either
Drake doesn't really care about art or his craft and coasts by on streaming figures while putting out the blandest music he can get away with
he is overrated, no rapper should take a 5 year hiatus to drop an album. This is like if Wayne took a 5 year hiatus after Carter 3 or Kanye took a 5 year hiatus after Graduation
How long it takes to drop an album is just contextual info for the footnotes
Nobody discovering a discography gives a s*** how long it took for an album to drop, only whether they like it or not
Don't remember listening to Voodoo and thinking "This is cool, but he made them wait 4 1/2 years? I'm turning this s*** off"

Stfu & cleanse your soul

It‘s very obvious and embarrassing at this point

That's just your opinion though.
But, truthfully, Kendrick has zero duds unless you count C4 the mixtape which is a major stretch.
Dude is literally the most consistent rapper ever.
Granted, I'd say some rappers reached higher highs but Kendrick's perceived "lows"(which DAMN or MMTBS are seen as by contrarians) are still way better than most other rapper's lows.
People want Kendrick to saturate himself more but that's not his lane. And, hell, if you include the BP soundtrack, Kendrick actually only took 4 years off and he told niggas that the pandemic and his family played a major role in his 4 year hiatus.
2Pac
Kanye Weat
Kid Cudi
Travis Scott
ASAP Rocky
Pusha T
Andre 3000
🧢 they great for a reason.

Lyrically he's a beast. But I just dont really fw the backpack rap aspect of his sound. I find most of the producers he uses normally to be mid.

"went Platinum" lol it's Kendrick, of course it would went Platinum. You can't tell me that album is perfect or a masterpiece or even amazing, it has some bad songs and that's a fact

rap is different, rap is competitive, if you call yourself a GOAT or the best rapper alive you should back it up. Kendrick hasn't been really rapping all that much in years.
