this is such a random album for a place like ktt to be so divisive on
It’s just cause it’s Kendrick and this became DTT. Niggas woulda rather troll for random strangers on the internet than appreciate the music presented. As much as I don’t like most of what Drake does, at least I can engage in actual conversation.
All the weird ass nicknames and troll/trash takes they get off leads to no further discussion, they just wanna annoy niggas
might actually be my favorite Kendrick album
some people need to revisit this album when they turn thirty, because it's all about personal growth, recognizing past traumas and vices, and learning to accept the person you are while still striving for greatness
real grown man rap that contradicts what Andre was saying about getting old and not having anything to rap about

Yup.
It's like being on SOHH in the mid-2000's when Jay Z stans were s***ting on Nas and making "Nas Lost" jokes everywhere.
And they were bringing up Jay's sales, hits/club bangers, and Beyonce to discredit Nas and claim that Jay's better.
History has a funny way of repeating itself.

The wild thing is in some cases it's dudes who been on this site for damn near 10 years . We are talking about grown folk approaching 30 year old if not beyond it

Why? You surprised a forum full of yt kids dont like a rap album about mental health?

You can't escape Drake no matter what thread or website you go to
It's always somebody talking about him when they're trying to showcase another artists' talent. It's beyond mentally ill

Because the people in the thread trolling are known Drake fans who hate Kendrick…? Ofc you gotta do the typical KTT follow up shade post right after

Shade?
Awesome album barring a few songs.
I never got the point of CD1 and CD2 though, didn't feel like there was a strong need to differentiate between two halves.
Really loved that Ghostface feat., wished he was in the pool of rappers to feature in songs regularly like Future, Lil Baby.
It has less bangers than TPAB?
I’ve seen people compare it to 444 before but it seems to get ignored that 444 was influenced by TPAB
Morale is another album in that mold, I feel like it’s TPAB 2.0 or an update/second attempt by Kendrick but it’s just not better imo, which makes it kind of disappointing in a way, its a high bar
I don't see how its similar to TPAB. Sonically and thematically it is different and trying to achieve different things. Can you explain this please?

Basically, both are highly conceptualized “introspective” albums, about internal struggle taking you from beginning to end, they aren’t about the exact same thing and the production is different, but the overall approach and tone is similar. Both are basically about mental health/struggle but framed against being a rapper in the current society (2015 and 2022 or whatever year Morale was)
Both titles and themes are also based on metaphors, the butterfly being misused and coming out of the cocoon, and the stepping around the issues. Both have a theatrical and literary flair
Both have some moments where the theatrics go too far and make it tough for some listeners (u and We Cry Together)
Both are about kendrick grappling with his role as a “voice” or a “savior” and his “influence” but Mortal Man and Mirror are just two different conclusions on what is pretty much the same question
I always question what kind of music fan am I. I would never judge an album especially a year later after just two listens.
I personally don’t feel comfortable critiquing music especially after time has passed without doing my due diligence. So when I say I don’t like something it’s because I gave it a real chance.
Two listens just isn’t enough.
S*** was just not what I expected and felt super boring to me. Relistening this week , let’s see!
