You'd have a "library card" that allows you to own the music for a certain time.

Of course you would still have other platforms to pay artists/own the music for life (itunes/bandcamp/spotify/apple music).

Its all in my original post

A library card is free bro. And yeah, I know you mentioned it in OP but think about it, why would anyone pay $10 a month or more for Apple Music or Spotify when the service you mentioned is free?

Yea some people prefer to support the artist directly but those people are already doing so now

Music definitely should not be free.

But streaming, in its’ current state, should not exist either

  • Oct 17, 2024

Microsoft Zune subscription used to let you pick 10 songs each month to own

on my public streaming service, you'd only be able to listen to the music for a certain amount of time.

if you want to listen to the music for longer then you'd use a private streaming service/pay the artists directly

  • Anything to make the “my favorite artist sell more” fans die from depression lmao

just make a library but for music. i don't think that's really wild. people still buy books and go to the library at the same time

Do artists deserve money in your eyes? Or just from the other things like concerts, merch etc

You think it's not easy for people to find PDFs of books?

    yes 100%.

my streaming service would mainly be for archival purposes. it wouldn't be the only one around

there would still be ways to support artists via itunes/spotify etc

I mean that’s what the Library of Congress could function as, and for certain mediums of art (to some extent) it does, so I don’t disagree

there's always going to be people that pirate art, the artists still get paid tho

  • Oct 17, 2024

Nah lol. Can still archive it without it being free. I wanna support the ppl who make it & help them continue to make it. Same way id like to be supported when i make it.

they should put it up for free so that it will always be available for people to listen to.

who's to say these labels last forever? do you trust them to take care of their artists' music properly?

Buy it and archive it yourself goofy

Buy it and archive it yourself goofy

    thats one option sure

but i think it would be amazing to do it on a grander scale where everyone can upload their music on a public platform and have no fear of it being removed

    Who gon pay the artists?

the systems that are already at play will pay the artists.

this streaming service would have their music for archival purposes
