Kendrick Career Trajectory: Let’s Discuss
RosettaStone
Apr 22
Drops OD (fire, starts gaining traction getting people attention)
Drops Section.80 (fire, now he really poppin we ready for the debut excited af)
Drops GKMC (classic, it’s outta here, got the drake feat and everything, he’s up next if he continues, mind you section 80 and GKMC are released within 1.5 years)
Then when world needs him most he vanishes like the avatar
Comes back 3 years later with TPAB (generally unlistenable no matter how many intellectual words you want to use)
Year later he follows it up with untitled unmastered (won’t even speak on this cuz it speaks for itself)
After he realizes he’s murdered his fan base, starts doing random horrendous pop collabs and songs
Year later comes with meh attempt at a pop crossover album DAMN where he tells people be humble and sit down
Vanishes again afterwards for nearly 3 years
He’s regarded as the end all for rap but I just don’t see it with this timeline. What am I missing?
Now this is what's really off topic in here
Damn was a classic and a top 2 album of 2017
Lol damn was is and will not be a classic
If damn is a classic then every album ever is a classic
Imagine influencing the greatest to ever do it David Bowie and Rosetta Stone comes and says that your album is unlistenable
You mean the album that won a f***ing Pulitzer Prize? Lmao
Lmfao yeah Pulitzer!!!
Stop posting this s*** in the f***ing sales thread
I like having this thread and y’all have to f***ing ruin it
You wanna go b**** to each other go somewhere else
Lol nah it’s actually pretty well accepted that Kendrick’s 3 major label albums are great albums even outside of Hip Hop. TPAB was cited as influencing iconic musicians like David Bowie and Prince, Damn won a Pulitzer Prize. Just look at some lists of best albums across all genres of the 2010’s and see how high his albums rank there. TPAB especially gets ranked top 5 consistently.
Exactly!
A YouTuber that does reviews that I watch that mainly covers rock has multiple Kendrick albums in his best of the decade video.
Kendrick has crossed most genres. I know a ton of people who don’t like rap but love Kendrick.
Something that I have not seen with Drake.

Great link to great post
Dudes saying you need lots of time to release good projects
Section 80 and GKMC time gap was like 1 year haha
But let’s take 3 years to release DAMN!
“TPAB generally unlistenable”
Damn is a “meh pop crossover attempt”
How mad you gotta be to type all this out

There's literally a thread about DAMN being a classic on the first page in Music and they want to argue about it in here
I agree i don’t know why they trying to talk about random s***
It’s you as well
Choose to ignore it y’all don’t have to get wound up about every drake criticism ever

Nah, Damn is a classic. Kendrick got multiple classics.
Meanwhile Take Care is probably Drake’s only classic.

Ok man no one wants to talk about Kendrick and what you think is a classic
Ok man no one wants to talk about Kendrick and what you think is a classic
And no one wants to hear you Stan drake but you’ve been in this thread all day long doing it.
That’s not good lol
How many sales did it amass?
A #12 can be okay if the numbers were respectable.
That’s not good lol
yes it is
that song has no hit qualities & it’s still charting high

Nah
Yeah but let's not act like Bad Bunny was an unknown artist lol
Of course not. He's always been a massive force.

A #12 is fine but dropping 1-12 is not good
One of the worst drops in chart history
Mia was #1 in latin BBs for months. Went both ways tbh
Of course. Bad Bunny been a monster from time.
