a lie of independence in the music industry that youre too jaded to even entertain as such. we get it bro you seen it all and you sleep with a tool under your pillow
Brockhampton was very open about their come up. They were HAPPY to be managed by Clancy because Clancy managed their idols. They were HAPPY to be signed by RCA because they WANTED TO BE A BIG MASSIVE BOY BAND. They never wanted to be independent and they weren’t independent for very long after their initial popularity started to hit.
Their rise to success was well documented and brockhampton themselves talked extensively about it.
Damn Tyler rapped about Clancy a lot you never heard him mention him?
even if i did it was probably on the level of 'thats tylers manager' and not 'thats the guy that manages the entire pastel core hip hop ecosystem'
It sounds like they got attention from the music industry organically and had help from a manager with a good success rate
I don't see what the point is
Yeah I remember seeing Christian Clancy name throughout early BH’s rise but only because I used to follow CC a lot and company alike back than
But yeah, those days of artists getting it out the mud and struggling to make a name for themselves is over. It’s either you have a machine behind you or not
Odd Future's come-up was completely fake, it was Chris Clancy and another Interscope guy Dave Airaudi who "went freelance" together to promote them and make it look organic
Lmao damn niggas talking about Clancy like Hes some mythical figure I’m that old

just be yappin man
just be yappin man
Not even an odd future fan and I know who clancy is

even if clancy never discovered tyler, completely omitting Odd Future’s organic rise in LA is wild

They had any help from the industry at all even if they started out organically and were making music before that
They are clearly plants

Oh wtf Dave Airaudi manages Steve Lacy now
Just 2 white gen X guys at the head of this whole reddit music empire
Ngl most artist we see with a decent following on social media that don’t really have big a enough song or even just enough songs to support that lifestyle is most likely an industry plant or a trust fund/nepo kid. The labels have them fake everything even friendships with influencers in their city.
The labels also drop their stuff on streaming but don’t include the labels name on the copyright section, they just use the artist name to make it look like a self release. It’s usually a dead giveaway in the youtube music generated upload though when you check the description and it doesn’t say provided to youtube by either tunecore, cdbaby or distrokid. Most other distributers you need industry ties to release through them.
They also say the artist mixed and mastered the song which is always usually bs cause if you’re an engineer you know some random lean drinking pill popping 19 year old kid isn’t gonna get anthony kilhoffer level mixes when he says he’s only been making music 2 years lmao. 2 years isn’t even enough to master all the basics in audio engineering.
In all honesty the genre with the most organic come ups that you can trace all the way back to pre industry days is street rap. Underground/internet rappers are usually suburban anime nerds with industry ties turned fake gangsters.

Lmfao pastel hip hop core ecosystem
Look man, idk if it's that deep. Clancy had managed odd future for years beforehand, and this group brockhampton had a bzz and was was very influenced by odd future. He probably saw dollar signs in his eyes at the prospect of making lightning strike twice and they were very happy to be managed by the guy who managed their idols. It just made sense.
Also worth considering, I'm not gonna say the reverse is true, but if you were a brockhampton fan in 2015-17 you were almost positively a Tyler/ OF fan too.

A big part of their initial hype was odd future comparisons yeah
This seems like a normal thing that is being made to look weird for no reason

HK was gaining popularity online before Kevin and the rest of the group iirc but ik op doesn’t really care about that cause he has an agenda to push
this is hilarious cause i hate brockhampton
but i literally watched the rise from the conception on OFT

This manager is planting these hipster rappers and is forcing them to like baby blue and pink
There's an underground pastel music master plan at play here

I think a manager is just good at there job and seeks out similar talent because he's good at pushing them and then once a successful manager is connected to them more connections/opportunities open up
