At a certain point it becomes natural tho lol

Sure capitalism isn’t our inherent human nature like 2,000 years ago

    It is now

    No

    Yes it is

You are born in a capitalist system that predates you by centuries

You will inherently behave according to the norms of the society you live in

Just cuz you’re compassionate towards people in need doesn’t mean you’re inherently willing to drop your entire life and devote it to the well being of your fellow person

Yes because capitalism has forced us to live or die

It has prioritised the needs of corporations, profit, materialism over others

It’s not that we don’t want to it’s that we CAN’T.

And thus you and I specifically have been genetically predisposed to behave as humans would in a capitalist system because of the hundreds of years of evolution and growth that our ancestors have gone through

Obviously the first batch of humans didn’t have capitalism as a natural instinct for them if they didn’t even know fire existed let alone how to communicate through speech

But yes at this point in time if you’re born after the 1600/1700s (which obviously we all were) capitalists tendencies are part of your nature

Even young people who think they’re communists before they even learn about Marx or what communism even is will still participate in the capitalist system without even knowing they’re essentially forced

Human nature is survival and capitalism is how humans have chosen to survive for hundreds of years now

Human nature does not equal socially constructed tradition
Also evolution does not happen in hundreds of years
Also evolution does not take place through ideas

Communism is how the first beings lived. It is biological and we will return to it. As opposed to capitalism, a social construction - not biological.

some french utopian socialists tried this with communities in rural america in the 19th century, and none of them really lasted.

makes for an interesting idea tho, and i think a lot about society would need to change for it to viable, and i don't see those changes happening in the relative short term

communism would never be possible on a large scale. Also the changes needed for that would be revolution which would be very deadly in this day and age with modern technology

    No lmfao

Do you think you and I would be able to communicate through this website if we had stuck with communal living till this day?

Or are you willing to sacrifice not just the last 20 years of hyper rapid technological innovation but the last 200?

    LMAO no

An unrestricted free market is the closest thing to human nature

Obviously no one wants that though because human nature is quite barbaric and primal

The first beings didn't live among a global communist system of 7 billion people having lived through the fastest advancing technology in the history of existence as we know it

A village of people ensuring they whole group is strong and healthy thousands of years ago is not even close to the equivalent of what ya'll are asking for nor does it make communism an inherit value all 7 billion people are biologically predisposed to having

Human nature is survival so yes it absolutely equals socially constructed traditions that are specifically survivalist traditions

its hard to get a grasp of these kind of topics without getting into the weeds of a book or two.

derek walls book summarizing her key ideas is pretty decent, first chapter can be skipped. ch 2-4, 7, and 10 are the important parts.
