its hard to get a grasp of these kind of topics without getting into the weeds of a book or two.

derek walls book summarizing her key ideas is pretty decent, first chapter can be skipped. ch 2-4, 7, and 10 are the important parts.

might be the first book I pick up in years but def a subject I care about so shouldn't be too much of a hassle

Idk why singling out women is important tho why not all human issues?

Cuz of patriarchal history? Genuinely curious what led you to think of that idea

1st off thats a stupid question
2nd off women's issues have always been different from that of men so in turn women would make up said committee.
they would also educate the community on the negative effects of toxic masculinity and patriarchy.

Lol sorry non new age feminist don’t automatically look at women as oppressed 2nd class citizens so the need for an entire committee sounds interesting to say the least

    Sounds unnecessary tho

It’s a great idea I just don’t understand the need for a federal committee

Sounds like that should be a state by state thing (assuming we’re talking US)

not my ideal situation tbh, I don’t feel like farming and doing handy work and always needing to be ready to help other people

Chances are you work for another white man, and he isn't even appreciative of your contribution.

Sure capitalism isn’t our inherent human nature like 2,000 years ago

    It is now

    What is this crap

Are you saying slavery was inherent to black people in the Americas 3 centuries ago, do we become biologically predisposed to certain economic systems over time

For thousands of years humans lived in communal societies that where all people contributed to the well being of the community.
However with the rise of land barons kings etc the people who had once worked together for the benefit of each other were now being subjugated by a few. Some were serfs and slaves who had no rights and were the property of these few and who gained no benefit from their labor. Those who were granted freedoms were still subject to taxation to land that was now owned by these few while having to work for the wages decided by this new ruling class.
So what is the solution? An eventual return to communal living. The farms and mines where men and women slave away for scraps. The office jobs where human creativity is stifled and we are forced to follow orders from wealthy old men who only desire profit. The minimum wage workers who can barely survive within our society and the homeless. We the people must band together in order to restore ourselves to a place where we once thrived. Instead of begging and relying on a ruling class to fulfill our needs we need to band together as a people to establish a society that is self sufficient and serves all people. Direct democracy where the community is actively involved in how it is governed and the defense of the community is undertaken by members of said community (preferably women). These responsibilities will be undertaken by committees who are made up of members the community and are voted out periodically so that no one can gain too much power. I envision a committee for Defense,Education,Work,Youth,Women and the Social Committee. I plan on expanding on this idea in future threads have a nice day.

TLDR: We as a society should get rid of the nation state and operate based on the needs of individual communities

Primary reason you want to get paid is because you needed to subsist, I bet you don't even like your job, otherwise you're just gaslighting your self to deal with wage serfdom

I don’t mind my job, but if we are talking working or being able to just live without having to work, then yes, obviously id prefer the latter.

But if we are talking working at my current job vs doing community work all day, then yeah I would definitely rather continue working at my job lol

I think that’s more of a preference thing tbh, for example, I prefer being able to work for the day, then come home and unwind with luxuries I have purchased thanks to mass production and innovation

It’s nice to come home, sit on the couch, play video games with the latest technology, watch tv, drink some beer, hang with friends, etc

I don’t think many people in today’s day and age really care to gather all the time and vote / decide on mundane things that could possibly benefit the community, when they could just relax and work on hobbies, do some leisurely activities, etc instead

Humans have just evolved past the point of needing to do any type of communal work thanks to automation, innovation, and plain old evolution

For better or for worse, we have become lazier due to our luxuries, and while it’s not the best thing for humanity, it’s not the worst thing either

As a whole, we are able to work on creativity, hobbies, etc more than we ever have been able to before, specially because we don’t have to work tedious tasks like community planning, farming, etc to survive.

I don’t think many people would want to regress back to that

One of the issues I have with this stance is that this modern consumerist lifestyle you’re describing is built off the exploitation of people from other countries. I’m struggling to articulate exactly what I mean but basically I don’t feel comfortable embracing that lifestyle when you consider the historical and modern practices which basically f***ed so many people so that we could be rich.

But why have you decided that you'd be doing community work all day? you'd likely have a lot more free time than you do now considering your whole community would also be chipping in to do some form of community work.

So, you're not going to back your abhorrently flawed reasoning?
So, with you thinking in mind why don't we just move away from capitalism, most of the existence of humanity has been under different economic systems, let's just ditch capitalism until we're no longer genetically predisposed for it?

Did you think about the implications of what you were saying when you typed that s*** out?

I’m not arguing with this bad faith premise that my statements by any means correlated to f***ing slavery being inherent to African Americans. As someone with slave ancestors I don’t know how you can expect me to even believe such a thing.

Saying we’re predisposed to behaving a certain way in society is not the same as saying we’re predisposed to being captured and sold as property against our will get you head out your ass.

Yes capitalism is the most modern system we live under. I’m sorry it’s not perfect but guess what, neither is this socialist utopia you niggas cream your pants over. Doesn’t mean let’s completely ditch one for the other it means let’s look for something that works.

  • Oct 19, 2020

I swear to god this is why reading is important lmao. You can't just go ahead and say "something that works." You either understand how systems work or you don't. and when you don't, you get to pretending like you can devise a whole new strain of thought where you can appease both the capitalist and working classes.
