  • Seen a lot of people saying trap drums are getting played out (true)......what would y’all like to see instead drum wise, and how many options are there really?

    more heavy/thick drums

very doable too. sometimes they get used but its rare. its needed.

would also like more static effects on snares, but thats a niche pick.

Can you give me some examples of thick drums

i dont have any actual of modern/recent stuff examples off the top of my head besides a few beats that ive sold myself & still selling, sometimes people ask me specifically for "different drums" too.

i can show you an example of "thick" snares through that if you want.

  • trap drums stale but idk what should replace it. Maybe bring back drum breaks in the meantime

A few users have but at the same time I wonder where else can s*** go?

Drum breaks has always been a thing in hip hop so that’s nothing new

And is it people are more so fed up with the combination of the drum sounds + 808 type baselines

I want breaks to come back, BALD! is a great example of a modern take on breakbeat style drums

I think a lot the issues comes down to:

    Same DAW
    Same VST sounds
Same method of clicking in notes

Maybe I shouldn’t say DAW cus that’s just a matter of how you use it. But I think the same VSTs and sounds are being reused and I think when bedroom producers click in they notes it limits the creativity

    Doubling drums with beatboxing

  • May 16, 2020

Definitely, I mean more in like an 80s rap style though

  • May 16, 2020

don't even mind trap drums tbh, but more experimentation would be nice. feel like it's less common to see producers create their own electronic drum kits.

  • May 16, 2020

Faster tempos and patterns would be great too im getting really sick of the 60/120 bpm formula

  • May 16, 2020

Maybe tweak the drums a lil
