I don’t think I’ve heard average joe, heard all the others. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t find many of them engaging for some reason.
How much a dollar cost is probably my least favourite track on TPAB.
Is momma really considered story telling track?
I like Sherane. Sing about me I absolutely f***ing hate.
There are just so many people I’d put over Kendrick with regards story telling. Nas, Big, GFK, Scarface, even DMX tbh
Seems like you can acknowledge that Kendrick is dope but he isnt your style
Im honestly the same way with Nas tbh. I like a lot of Nas stuff and obviously love Illmatic but a lot of his work doesn’t do it for me.
Entirely debatable and they have different approaches.
Personally I prefer Kendrick but both are top. Kendrick covers way more topics and talks about ideas in those topics in much more depth. A lot of it is to do with flow and delivery, Kendrick often doesn't rhyme words in his raps or rhymes them very unconventionally so he has a wider vocabulary to choose from

Yeah that’s a fair take, I do think he’s probably the best of the current gen… but that’s the main reason I mainly still listen to old school rap
not top 30? cmon
Average Joe
The Art of Peer Pressure
MAAD City
Momma
How Much A Dollar Cost
The Heart pt 3
He has hella to choose from
first verse on average joe might be my favorite dot verse
What do you consider some elite level Kendrick storytelling tracks? I’m guessing Duckworth, reincarnated and sing about me? I honestly find these tracks so boring and tedious to get through. Not at all captivating. Does he have any better than these? Genuine question
Father Time, Worldwide Steppers, FEAR, Hood Politics, For Free, For Sale, Keisha’s Song, Untitled 3, Untitled 8, Growing Apart, Cut You Off
ROTC

Damn how I forget about these

One of my fav kendrick songs ever bc its one of his most relatable
Nas pen is one of the greatest ever so idk how this supposed to be a slight on Kendrick lol
The problem I’ve always ran into when it comes to the lyricism debate is dudes bringing up random underground artists that are absolutely crazy with it
Or dudes bringing up battle rappers that are nice with triple+ entendres
Yea those dudes may be nice with the pen but the music is basura tier
Kendrick’s upper hand is his lyrical consistency for a decade+ and the artistry that he fuses it with
My biggest pet peeve surrounding the discourse is that there is more to being lyrical than punchlines and metaphors. There is lyricism in songwriting where Kendrick shines, you don’t have to bar someone out to be “lyrical”
But yeah someone like Nas is obviously Rap God tier. But niggas hated on him too, if he was in his prime today nigags would call him “scaring the hoes music”

Yup that’s my problem
You can give everyone their props and still say who’s personally better in your opinion
But nah they gotta say stupid s*** like “he ain’t even top 30” gtfoh
The narratives are “Nobody wanna hear that lyrical lyrical s***” and then when he drops a GNX and have fun wit it, now it’s he ain’t lyrical enough
