No idea's original, I think nas said that once.
Hell, some of the most memorable "groundbreaking" albums of the last decade were taking hella influences from jazz and funk and soul music. Look at TPAB
Theres nothing wrong with people having inspiration. Like you said a lot of the best material comes from direct inspiration. An example of what im getting at is between like 2018-2019 there was this wave of underground concious rap where literally all of it sounded like a hybrid Mick Jenkins X Isaiah Rashad X Goldlink kinda thing or were doing this weird hybrid Kendrick X Logic flow. It was like literally every single song sounded the same. I remember telling myself then, this is the same thing we complain about with trap music.
There’s no such thing as a “savior” that s*** was always a myth perpetrated by dustheads in the 2000s mad that rappers weren’t using 1995 jazz samples beats.
I completely agree, nobody is going to be a savior. lol

Logic is hella derivative of everyone that dont even make sense.
And Isaiah rashad sound like lil wayne. This post you made is confusing as hell lol.
And Im a Kendrick fan like everyone else but i aint with this whole “lol he rap fast he must be kendrick lamar” s*** yall was doing to JID for years.

Isaiah sounds nothing like Lil Wayne.
Isaiah sounds nothing like Lil Wayne.
Exactly
Maybe his early 2009 music does but its barely noticeable now
Jay Z the king of chameleon flows but nobody say “yo why jay z imitate so and so every new album” because they just enjoyed the damn music lol. They aint dismiss a whole scene.
The one bad thing about today’s era is the focus on singles vs. albums. But we been through this before when it was ringtones vs. albums. Everything comes back around, I dont believe in making grand statements on the music scene during a time where the money has stopped completely. Of course we getting throwaways lol.
Watch how s*** changes once touring opens up again. Niggas’ll have so much s*** to say, I’m optimistic tbh.
Im slowly moving away from rap unfortunately, after almost like 20 years. It's so "fast food" now.. theres almost nothing memorable anymore, nothing I would be excited to play for my future kids. Hopefully im just getting too old and just miss the beat now. But older rap songs still sound extremely good.. they feel timeless.. i feel theres no timeless music anymore and its more about money, ads and just to get peoples attention for 3 seconds. It's all good tho as there is enough great music made before and I like other genres too so it's fine.

nah, they gonna wait 5-10 years from now to come back on the internet and talk about how they always believed in them just like those "Lil Wayne fans" that swear they weren't posting those "who killed hip hop" memes on the internet when homie was skateboarding. lol.
Real Wayne fans never stopped listening and never posted memes fool
So rap is boring, but Pop Smoke who kept making the same sounding s*** prior to his last album is a stand out?

Then if it don't apply let it fly lol. You know what I'm talkin bout.

Oh okay I thought u meant that it was impossible to be an actual Wayne fan during the time my b
Still funny how some niggas on here are still acting like Nas said anything negative or was on some hating s***.
Reminds me of Renegade when Hov said "Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?"
Niggas read a clickbait title and react before reading the actual interview. He even says he appreciates them. Lol
he must not be listening to them get money detroit niggas
That t grizzley sound is garbage i dont get y’all obsession with it
Dont get me wrong what im saying is completely subjective and bias based on my own likings. If other people dont find the music stagnant and interesting they are perfectly within their own right to continue to enjoy things and im not going to judge that or say its wrong
Im surprised you feel that way tbh there are definitely similarities to be made between some of the underground stars, but the unique concepts they each bring to the table is what really sets them apart. The top dudes in slums dont even really sound anything alike, the griselda affiliates and their offspring have a very similar style especially with beat selection, but the bars are what distinguish them. You cant deny the best lyricists to ever live are alive and rapping right now
