LOL i didnt even think of the irony of Amanda saying I want to break them up while dealing with a divorce that got announced during the rollout of this movie
I have to say about people wanting that nomination
her acting isnt her strong point in this movie its being herself I dont know if that to me qualifies for a best actor award in a documentary because then by that logic why couldnt elizabeth holmes get a best actor
I dont know about best actor in a documentary guys lol I think that sets an odd precedent
People gunning for Amanda to get an acting nom from this are silly. She brings a vital presence to the film, but it has nothing to do with acting… even when she *is* acting, it isn’t about performance it’s about communication
everyone in my theater was shocked when that part came up. i was audibly like "what"
THEY WERE HOOTING AND HOLLERING . I was like "man "
I get part of it was nervous laughter but you would think i was in the avengers endgame based on some of the reactions to these things. I am all for a communal experience but
it being revealed billy a kirk fan or "money didnt go to billy"
arent like cheer like crazy moments or scream moments
Order should be Your Mother Your Mother this then Digger
They yanking digger out of my AMC after thursday sadly

I feel an acting nomination for a documentary not only goes against the purpose of the film it goes against documentaries themselves. People focusing on awards in a situation like this is baffling. I get wanting a documentary itself to have a best picture nomination
I mean but sticking to the bit didnt even benefit her majorly she lost all the money and fame. She is serving prison. She was the face of it while the indian guy is forgotten about name wise. She still is trying theranos 2 rather than accepting she is a drop out and average intelligence unless there is something I am missing. I dont view her as some super liar genius. I view her as likely on the spectrum and out of touch with reality due to her development years being in terrrible relationships.
one part my theater laughed a bit too much at was
when her dad talks about her experiencing rape changed her
THEY WERE LAUGHING THEIR ASS OFF AT THAT. Its like I GET IT she isnt a perfect person by any means she is guilty blah blah she lied defrauded investors but a lot of what my crowd laughed at wasnt even the parts that were funny some of it was just seeing nathans face they would burst in laughter and its like bro chill
Were they actually laughing at that or were they laughing at Nathan, who JUST before the dad drops that bomb has a funny moment. Nathan is like “so can you explain to me where this all went wrong”, and the dad is like “that’s the easiest question you can ask me” and then Nathan has this giddy smile and he perks up all excited and goes “okay then tell me!”— THAT got a lot of laughs in my theatre (it is really funny) — but then he drops the bomb immediately after and I could feel my entire theatre shift from mid laughing to “oh wait what???”

nah it was after it was revealed what it was lol
i mean part of it was nervous laughter but also I think for some this documentary dehumanized Elizabeth. rather than humanized

Damn your auditorium was cooked then lmao
I mean they clapped and raised their hands for the part about amc a list members I kind of knew I was cooked
the amc a list portion of the intro they were all cheering
I am a list but
raising their hands. Person next to me was texting for like 30 minutes
couple on the other side was moving and pointing at screen
its my favorite theater of amc with cheap parking though I been going for years but sometimes the crowd be really gen z
There have been little cracks in everything Nathan has done since NFY that show him reckoning with the possibility that his whole schtick is based on using and tricking people content. This was especially evident in the child actor fatherhood simulation arc of The Rehearsal, which ends on the ambiguous note of Nathan having possibly altered a young boys perception of reality, for the sake of an HBO show and his own insecurities about fatherhood. Elizabeth then must have picked up on this about Nathan because he was clearly particularly struck by the "youd be a good father" comment she made. The Curse was kind of about this reckoning too. EH plays a game very similar to the one NF plays on NFY, which is why i think NF is so fascinated with her, and also why (in addition to being a genuinely curious artist without an agenda), he insists on hearing her out -- he kinda sees himself in her.
shes his muse fr

But she IS acting, I’d argue… she’s giving a performance from the moment she comes on screen

OH LMFAO
But she IS acting, I’d argue… she’s giving a performance from the moment she comes on screen
you think it is all an act everything she says ?I mean its a possibility but I dont think I want an actor to win or be nominated for acting all movie
you could argue Nathan is arguing every time he is on screen then lol
Nathan has an emptiness I never truly realized to hire a child actor to do that
humliation ritual

Nathan IS acting too imo. At least in the second half of the film.
But that’s just my interpretation off first watch.

you dont think it would be odd to nominate someone for best acting in a documentary?
in doing so what stops elizabeth holmes from being nominated?
1. Fielder wasnt compromised
2. get by brother she is in a prison cell
3. Master Manipulator that choose to be in this and didnt truly benefit in any discernible way
the "elizabeth holmes is doing jedi mind tricks and you are for a moment seeing her as a human being rather than as the devil "
s*** is growing old. she is a human being that lied and is facing punishment for lying. nathan and others are constructing a narrative movie as a commercial product that will win them awards, fame , success
both can be true
same both were true for primetime. You dont have to simply have a villain of hansen, holmes or anyone without discussing the elements and reality.
The need to have a clear good and evil or manipulator and truth teller binary is kind of what the film goes against
Does she get paid off this doc?
in social capital / relevance. which i think was the point
