I think it’ll still eventually get released but probably heavily modified from what it originally was. I could see them taking a few years and turning it into whatever the multiplayer for Pt. III will look like. It would’ve been outright canceled if they didn’t have any plans for it in the future

Look at that spy game called Agent from Rockstar for example, or Bully 2 decades ago

Or that multiplayer dungeon crawler Souls-like mixed with dragons Dogma title from Capcom that was suppose to come out last gen

Etc.

Over 10+ years of the official announcements but no official cancelation to this day

I blame Jim Ryan's gaas investment rush + Bungie's input for the Factions 2 being "on ice" tbh

All we wanted was a Factions 2 with TLOU2's gameplay and verticality, interactibility + scale of the TLOU2 maps & we woulda been happy tbh.

He is the one to blame for the as a service investment

Actually I would say most cancelations arent public

Most we just make an educational assumption, some we get leaks from news outlets or investor meetings & only a very small percent is publically told from the studio/company as an official statement

idk i don’t think they would’ve said it’s on ice if it was fully canned, I guess it could eventually get canceled down the line but for right now it’s probably just stalled

It means its not being worked on and/or not getting budget more times than not

Theyre moving on - at least for time being

Probably being shifted to move onto whatever Naughty Dog main thing is right now

So allocating most the resources and workers to that while this becomes a background thought

Uh pretty sure it was initially planned to have a multiplayer mode added but they switched up and decided to make it standalone since scope expanded.

And now it’s not coming period

Reminds me of the split screen promise (that still hasnt been added) & the Forge promise (which just got added finally recently) for Halo Infinite that was suppose to be there day 1 and the 2nd month of launch and some of its biggest selling points and marketing
