This mid out yet
Boutta start watching this rn
I hope this ain’t as bad as everyone is making it out to be
Ehh I didn’t know the new series would continue to follow Aang n em. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it but I really hate when creators can’t just let things rest and move on. If we never got Korra, I’d be a lot more open to it. I wanna know what’s happening after her. How has the world evolved and changed?
This lil in between era, I’m guessing working on the founding and development of Central City or w/e it’s called. This also means it’s pre-convergence, so no other Airbenders apart from Aang
We’re getting more stories outside of the gaang too, this is just the first of the new series of films and shows
Another one takes place after Korra featuring another earth avatar
I saw Aang can fly?
Trying to pinpoint my biggest issue and I think I just find this Aang kind of annoying and whiny so far
The aging choice there SHAMELESS bait for pathetic millennials stuck in their childhood lol
Anyway watched the first ep of this and it seems bad. Really just not a show that makes sense as live action plus it's way too serious in tone

Definitely not terrible, but definitely not good
Felt like they were speedrunning the first season. Skipping storylines that build the world and characters
Nothing felt earned and just flat boring
they just cant let it go bruh
The entire Avatar saga just shows how out of touch these execs are.
We didnt just like Avatar cause it was a great story we liked it because animation rules. There is shockingly little animated fantasy series out there that have a real story to tell. Western animation is mostly just episodic comedies.
Avatar was the breath of fresh air as a kid on television. Sure spongebob was funny but avatar you turned on one day he was learning water bending the next time aang is already a pro. And hey suddenly Toph is a companion. When are they gonna fight the firelord?!? Stuff happened and it progressed. Man it was peak
Avatar bleneded episodic and serialized shows perfectly. You can watch almost any episode and not get confused for the most part on what is happening. You can almost enjoy any episode on its own
Iroh sounds way too modern
It never made sense why Iroh had an Asian accent when neither Ozai or their father had one.
The creators of the real show leaving was 100% proof this would not be good…. and its not good.
Know why the one piece live action got good reception because the creator was involved, same reason GOT was amazing for a long time…
Some of these criticisms online is insane
People are d*** eating about s*** that they aren’t even right about lol
I haven’t watched yet because I haven’t seen a single shot that doesn’t look like it was filmed in front of a green screen.
Am I bugging or is this show entirely green screen sets?
I’ve started reading the comics this past week. On Book Fire of the side adventures that happened during the series
Can’t wait to get to the things that happen post series
The comics are mostly great minus a few weird story decisions

SpongeBob and Avatar some of the best cartoons of all time fr. Avatar deserves its props for the unique concept and plot progression. That's what Korra lacked - a brilliant villain throughout the show, a clear goal of defeating that villain and the plot shows our protagonists constantly working towards that goal
I can’t believe this actually has mixed reviews. This was really well done with a lot of heart. I teared up pretty much every episode.
A live action series wasn’t needed. But it is a great companion piece for the animated series.
I consider this a pretty good adoption but the biggest issue here is pacing - way too rushed and there needs to be more time given to make these character likable
It’s okay their personalities aren’t perfect 1:1 with the OG series but if you’re gonna go that route you need let the audience warm up to these new versions
Overall, I think this is way over-hated. This adaption does a lot of things very well and fleshes out the OG series in some really nice ways.
I personally like the additional dialogue from Ozai and his direct manipulation of Azula being showcased better than the OG series tbh
The visuals are very good and the actors fit the roles well enough
I saw one critique of Katarra’s character being done poorly in the sense that she’s too passive compared to the OG series. I’d agree here — maybe they’re gonna go for longer-term character development but overall this Katarra’s character doesn’t hold up compared to the OG
7/10, I would rate this higher if the pacing and plot werent so rushed
