Finding Forever had the impossible task of following up his masterpiece Be. But instead of trying to top it or repeat the formula, Common treats this project as a fun victory lap. He chooses to remind people he is a master of consistency. This album knows Be was a juggernaut and carries a sense of confidence. From a production angle, this project does not really cover new ground. But, it does offer Common experimenting with his flow. Several songs on here feature him riding the beat more traditionally then he ever has before, departing from his signature “poet flow”. The flows and hooks presented here, tell me that Common was trying to make some of the most assessable music of his career. It features the return of Kanye West, who is now in his Graduation era. It also features a song from one of J Dillas posthumous albums, Featuring Common himself and D’Angelo. The music on here overall is pretty good. There’s nothing that really stands out to me negatively aside from the garbage cover and Kanye’s obnoxious singing vocals on “Southside”. There’s some wonderful moments scattered throughout this album like the wonderful tribute to J Dilla on the last track, but overall it didn’t blow me away or move me like some of his previous work did. And that’s OK. I feel like this time instead of putting unnecessary pressure on himself to deliver, he just took a breath and decided to make some good music.

Forever Begins is such a beautiful outro
Common didn't pick the best singles for Electric Circus and the streets did not like them but it mostly positive reviews by critics.
B****fork ended up changing their original review score a few years ago, a bunch of bozos of there
Today I’m going out DoorDashing and listening to his ninth album.
I’ll give you guys a short review when I’m done.
No I.D and Common reunite for the first time in 14 years for Commons next effort. This album is a sonic continuation of what him and No I.D conceived with One Day It’ll All Make Sense, from the production to the rapping and subject matter. This features contributions from Nas, John Legend, a poem from Maya Angelou and multiple contributions from the incredibly talented James Fauntleroy. James Fauntleroy is a personal highlight for me throughout. This album feels like returning to a warm safe place. It’s familiar, but not redundant. Tracks like “Celebrate” and “The Believer” feel wholesome without being corny. And song like “Ghetto Dreams” and “Windows” are introspective and honest. Only track I personally didn’t like that much was “Sweet”. I thought the production was hard, and no I don’t care that it’s a Drake diss. But I just don’t find Common very intimidating as a MC, and that automatically makes the song unconvincing and fall flat. Overall, this album is really, really good. I’m very impressed with what I’ve heard today. This is definitely the best Common album I’ve heard since Be and I look forward to what’s to come throughout the 2010’s.
Final Score: 8.5/10

Blue Sky beat is so amazing
commons discography is heavily slept on his 2010s album run was really good and nobody really talked about the albums.
Common was mad af about Drake on Sweet it's such a whiplash given the music he's been making for most of his career lmao but he has always been able to diss other rappers very well. IE: The B**** in Yoo diss towards Ice Cube.

Dreamer/Believer Nobody Smiling and Black America Again seemed to get a decent amount of love from those who care but he kind of became more of a niche artist after his prime commercial run
But like I said the other day OP since you liked The Dreamer/The Believer I still highly recommend checking out Cocaine 80s. The Flower of Life EP especially continues that sound that No ID, Common, and James Fauntleroy found on The Dreamer/The Believer. Really nice vibes.
just letting you know it's gonna be jarring going from his debut album to Ressurection just cause he switched his entire flow (but in a good way)
If you ain't put off by his "poet" flow, you'll appreciate most of his discography.
Electric Circus is the only "dud" and that's mostly it sounded musically all over the place.
electric circus is underrated imo i feel like if you took common off and put someone like outkast on those beats people would've rocked with it.
wonder if kanye fw that second bar at the time fr
Even common doesnt fw it anymore

Yeah my thoughts too. Sweet just throws off the whole vibe of the album
Found out about common on youtube i’d keep clicking on his videos and they were all fire thread bringing back memories fr

But I wanna reiterate that I think the rest of the album is really really good. Like good enough to make up for that flaw.
