His discography is that good imo. Aside from his debut
Today I’m going out DoorDashing and listening to his eighth album.
I’ll give you guys a short review when I’m done.

I’ve only listened to Be and like water for chocolate. But this thread inspired me to listen to some more
You know you like it
It’s calling your name
This is a fascinating experiment. Is it better than its reputation? Yes. Does that make it a good album? No. A couple things hold this back from being what it could’ve been. Firstly, Common simply doesn’t mesh on some of these beats. None of these beats are bad from The Neptunes, they just sound awkward. Like on the title track for example. Someone like Kanye or T.I could’ve rapped over it back in 2008 and it would’ve sounded natural. But Common? His cadence and delivery just doesn’t mesh. He’s not a club rapper you turn up to, he’s a genius poet and you listen to what he has to say. This album is at its best when it’s a bit more Downtempo. Songs like “Punch Drunk Love” and “Changes” are great songs that still contain electronic elements, but they work more in Commons favor. But that leads me to the second thing that holds this album back. Some of Commons lyrics on the love/sex themed songs are a regression to his first album and parts of Resurrection. Corny, goofy, silly lyrics that aren’t even really clever. Like “Sex 4 Suga”. It’s not that he’s talking about love or sex, He’s talked about that subject matter many times before. It’s that he does it in such an unappealing way here. With that being said, there are some great songs on here and this album is short. With only 10 tracks (not including the live song), it’s a short 38 minute album that knows it’s not the best album and It ends quickly without a fuss. The album ending without Pops was also disappointing to me, his words of wisdom are something I’ve anticipated on every listen.
Final Score: 5/10
Favorite Songs: Punch Drunk Love, Make My Day & Changes
Least Favorite Songs: UMC & S***4 Suga

His worst album imo
Absolutely. There’s some great songs on there I’m not going to lie, but overall it’s not a good project.
