What I took away the most from this experience is that Common as a rapper/artist/MC does not get the respect or flowers he deserves. The dude has one hell of a discography and it was an amazing journey to listen to a new album everyday and be pleasantly surprised. I had heard a few tracks before this and I thought it was cool, but I never really took into consideration the consistency, versatility and quality that he brought to the table. He’s someone who is as real as you can get.

His honesty and transparency was refreshing to my ears. There was a few songs I heard that really moved me. It took me a moment to get adjusted to the particular pocket that he would rap in, but once I got adjusted, it was a hell of a ride. I went from someone who kind of knew his music, to a actual fan. I will be definitely be checking out his future releases. In my opinion, he has earned a spot in my top 15 rappers of all time.

I myself never set out on creating a trend on here. It was never about achieving success, popularity or clout. It was always about the music or my interpretation of the music. It was about discovering something that I haven’t discovered before after feeling so complacent recently with the newer music that has come out. It’s a real bittersweet feeling writing this post. I like ending things on a high note, but I’m going to miss this existing from my daily routine. This entire experience was like a journey for me. I feel like somebody standing on stage in an empty, dark auditorium. Everyone’s gone home and the show is over, but I’m still here. The most beautiful thing though is that while my show is over, my little thread has inspired people to continue what I started with their own interpretations and their own artist.

Users like @Markell_Kelly with MF DOOM, @SlapFiend with E-40, @Mitchell with Janet Jackson, @FLIZZY with The Roots, @coochieman with Nas are all carrying this on. The dismissive may act like this is simply for attention or clout or jumping on the bandwagon of a good idea. For me atleast, I think it’s really cool to see genuine music discussion on here. To see users are making an effort to listen to music in a way that’s an experience for them and showing genuine interest in broadening their musical horizons. This is the thread and idea that I am most proud of creating and being a part of. Because it’s greater than myself now. But rest assured, I will be back eventually for another one of these threads. I’m gonna let this marinate for a bit and let the rest of y’all get some shine before I come back for the sequel.

And that’s a wrap on the Common thread ✌️

I haven’t decided yet what I will do. I could either just let this thread stay finished as is or I could update it once in a blue moon with new reviews and updated ranking.

Be isnt simply a good album. Be is one of the best hip hop albums I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. It’s incredible and I’d argue it is in the top 20 best hip hop albums ever.

    Been saying this for years

People who never peeped his discography always say he's "corny" or "carried by production", brehs ain't really LISTENING

To me he has a unique and powerful mic presence, like a true rap superstar. Not just another 90's-00's conscious rapper.

I also used to think his records have sold a lot more than they actually did. Was disheartening to find out he was always "indie" status.

Sadly the Drake controversy overshadowed the quality of the album.
