Didn’t know there was one. What’s the difference?
A lot more books that aren’t included
Like the book of Thomas which is a conversation between Jesus & the disciple Thomas
it shows more light on Jesus’s ideology
OP looks clean! May I ask why a new thread was made?
the other one was getting derailed quite a bit.
trying to keep this one a little more clean/consistent and have better discussion amongst everyone who's interested

Why would they be removed from the ‘universal’ Bible? Is there any way of verifying what is and isn’t real in them?

Well the universal Bible was created during The Council of Nicaea
that meeting decided what would be “canon” or what wouldn’t be & how Jesus “should” be viewed
take that as you will

Biblical Scholars agree that the gospel of thomas is the closest to what Jesus actually said.

Arent Ethiopians mostly orthodox? Why would heretical books (according to the church) like Thomas be in their bibles?

the gospel of Thomas always confuses me because in other sources i have read that it’s a gnostic text/it wasn’t written by any of the canon writers or some s*** along those lines who even knows man
that particular book regardless though has a very prominent non-dualist (if not Eastern, really ala Buddhist Mahayana and Hinduist Advaita) feel to it

agonizingly gorgeous man
i need to try to start visiting some churches

same here. i've seen it more associated to gnostic text, which is why i'm never too sure about it.
i haven't read it in detail, so i could be wrong, but thought it was more about sayings from Christ rather than his life and journey on Earth
The King James Version has 66 books
Ethiopian has 84 or more
1611 KJV readers rise up (80 books)

yeah it features a bunch of sayings he made while teaching or something along those lines
im pretty much a huge mystic buff for most religions so it’s a shame Gnosticism is considered a heresy lmao, i do think there’s a general place for religious experiences (mediated by the Holy Spirit) within Christianity though, i suppose they just draw the line with God being a part of its creation, Christianity seems fairly adamant on the idea of monotheism and the idea of man + God being separate from one another wholly
The infant gospel is fairly compelling, especially as it is corroborated by the Koran... otherwise the truths in the other apocryphal gospels are contained in the four canonical gospels, in much more beautiful language.

can you go in more detail?
not entirely related, but it's cool to see one of the best athletes in the world praise God in subtle ways and pray a lot
can you go in more detail?
The story of the child Christ making birds from clay and breathing life into them, turning them into birds is present in that apocryphal text and the Koran. The infancy gospel ends with the story from Luke 2 of Jesus in the temple "wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?"

didn't know that story was also in the Qur'an
