man its nuts to me how this dude kendrick can dive into such broad ass topics about life, and being a human, and u come out of it truly feeling like you learned something after listening.

“Damn theories” no pun intended cus that’s where it started Lmaoo

But I think that’s just what makes Kendrick’s music great. He does concepts with all his albums and doesn’t explain too much about it which gets fans involved to peel back the layers. Then after they do that they try and figure out what the next album will be

I think it’s fire and creative but I don’t think I learned anything new?

I think Nas really paved a way to creative storytelling. It started with him rapping from the perspective of a gun lol

no offense but if you don't learn something new from his music I'm afraid it might be because you're not reading enough books.

There's a reason if some teachers literally teach his music instead.

Lmao are you trolling because that made no sense? Kendrick is an avid reader, so am I. So if he’s speaking about s*** I’ve already learned from reading how am I learning something new?

Now obviously if he raps about personal s*** then that’s learning something new ABOUT Kendrick because it’s autobiography

If teachers are teaching his music (and it’s not a music class) in replacement to actual teachings it’s further proof niggas attention spans are too short to attain knowledge and need it coming from a celebrity to spark an interest

Bro what are u on about lol

He spoke on the idea of art being a separate entity than the artist in a more poignant way than I’ve ever heard another rapper address it. Framing art as a human being and speaking directly from its perspective as if it’s a living breathing person is brilliant because it makes you see it in a different light, relate to it on a human level, and truly feel guilty for slandering it or delegitimizing it based on the actions of its creator. It would be like coming at somebody and s***ting on them for terrible things that their parents did.
He didn’t just do it to be creative, it is actually a crazy effective way to express his idea behind the relationship of art to artist. And the way he had a direct conversation with the consumers in the 3rd verse was fantastic

I don’t understand why you being pretentious about it, that was a pretty eye opening set of verses

He’s not literally teaching you s*** but my fav thing about kendrick is when he gives me new perspectives on topics like that

They are teaching it as a form of literature/poetry. I don’t think it’s replacing anything but another form of literature or poetry but not actual information.

What I’m on about is niggas is gassing the hell out of s*** saying you can learn more from Kendrick than a school? Come on bro

Nobodies knocking Kendrick’s music and his creativity, which frankly your rebuttal was geared towards that and not the actual discussion at hand. Yes he has a creative way of talking about s***, but the actual s*** he’s talking about isn’t new knowledge to me therefore I am not learning something new which is what me and the other guy was speaking of before you chimed in.

Yeah if it’s in the form of creative writing/music/poetry then that’s fine. Maybe I misunderstood dude but he made it seem like you can learn like actual new information (history, math, science) from Kendrick’s music

it’s not just about being creative or out there though man, the meaning of art is crucial to society and just as important as math literature knowledge etc. I salute kendrick for diving into these innately human topics with the depth that he does while dudes like J cole hop on albums and the best commentary they can give on life is “Meditate, don’t medicate” lol

Dude you was quoting is an idiot tho, I stay away from talking to those rabid stans

Bro no one is knocking Kendrick’s creative ability. Remember this is my thread you in so I’m a Kendrick fan.

But saying “you can literally learn more from Kendrick than going to college” is the biggest f***ing reach ever. To me that reads as “Fuck school f*** books just listen to a Kendrick album”

Now if it’s regarding music classes, poetry-creative writing purposes then yes I think that can be beneficial. But I read it as “this niggas Kendrick teaching all sorts of lessons and new information”

Lol okay bro so if you acknowledge he’s an “idiot” what you jumping on me for when I was responding to his “you can literally learn more from Kendrick than college” lmaoooo

He said literally so I took it literal like bro if this your first time learning about MLK speech you need to read a book

That doesn’t knock Kendrick’s creativity or even teaching his lyrics in a creative writing class.

Maybe he should of specified instead of just saying college as a whole lol

it just feels like you dismiss the importance of the conversation kendrick’s trying to have here when you say stuff like “when it comes to creativity”.

Like it’s more than being creative when it comes to this imo. One of my favorite movies of all time is The House that Jack Built and that also acts as a study on the meaning of art and its relationship to the consumer.
