and another question i have: I've had discussions with friends about how the tearing down of statues is "erasing history" and is exactly what Orwell warned... my counterpoint is simple: who learns history through f***ing statues? i've never saw a statue and was like wow cool statue i want to learn more about this guy. I was taught history in school, and until they start erasing/revising history they teach at a young level (they do already to some level which is slightly alarming) i don't see how the tearing down of statues is something inherently wrong.

Yeah op didn’t do the best job at explaining those parallels. Like KELYE said most of that stuff can but attributed to pandering.

True and I could've explained it in a much better way but there I would probably get banned if I were to fully express myself (DOUBLETHINK , THOUGHTCRIME). What I said here is just the tip of the iceberg, there's much much more.
