who was skinny Pete? Even when they showed "young him" at the bar when he was leaving he didn't really look familiar to me. And he was on a computer on google looking s\*\*\* up around this time? That doesn't make sense to me. 68, to leading a moving company/being on the Internet felt like it doesn't make sense, I just figured he named his son "Elwood Jr" or something of that nature
Idk someone else in here said that was Daveed voice when they showed the flash forwards. So if so that gotta be Turner. Cus the flash forwards is Turner I mean he had a clear convo with Pete about what happened to them at Nickels. And they showed an ID of Turner with his name changed to Elwood

When he's clicking thru articles, maybe the 1st or 2nd scene with him, they show the webpage and it says 2018 on it. I guess that just threw me off the scent so hard that I just misinterpreted what they was going for. I guess end of the day, just slightly weird casting, daveed is great but I think an older dude would've made more sense. I thought it was a generational trauma/cycles of trauma thing the whole time, cuz what like....60/70 year old man is so tech savvy like that. Thought he was somebody's son/grandson, looking into the investigation way later. And for some reason I was thinking the scene at the bar was supposed to be kind of surreal, like the son and Turner's perspective was melding together like how some of the movie presents moments from the past leaking into the present for young Elwood (like the scene with the alligator at nickel/the kids standing on the desks), but now I see it was to be taken at face value. Not tryna be a cinemasins type nigga but I think I just misinterpreted it
Geez finally bro

my dad is almost 70 and he knows how to illegally stream sports and kdramas and movies etc and he does not work in tech or anything close to that so it’s def possible
I enjoyed this quite a bit. It definitely elevates the source material in such a brilliant way. I was pretty mild on the book but I think the film makes you feel things that the book didn’t.
On the other hand, reading the book gave me more context to certain scenes that may have felt a bit vague and I do wonder how people who did not read the book engage with the film. Not that the film needs to hold your hand (& it doesn’t) but typically a film may overexplain something and with this film I feel it’s the other way around. There’s more context around why Elwood is hitchhiking, there’s more context to the boxing match and its importance to the black kids at the school, there’s more context to even some of the teachers at the school. This isn’t necessarily a critique because if the audience gets it, then they get it but I did find that part interesting

I see why Elwood hitchhiking could be jarring to many people but everytime we see him outside at that age he’s usually taking public transport or by himself and that just made it make sense to me
