In what d***ged up world is hardcore a classic album

people do love some of Kim's albums tbf. Isn't one of them the only female album to be given 5 mics? which I guess meant something in that era

If that's not rap (outside of a track like jimmy) then neither are most new rappers in 2020

No one. I never said it was a problem. But you said it like you had an attitude with everyone's observations 😂😂

Not every artist NEEDS a classic but it sef puts you a step ahead of the rest 🤷🏿‍♂️

LMAO yea I sound like a twitter b**** in that post I can see that now🤣

I also have a tendency to ride for Nicki on this site because she gets so much hate. I guess I have a soft spot for her since she’s the first female rapper I grew up on being an immigrant who didn’t come here till 07.
I would happily declare another female rapper the queen, classic album or not, if they had accomplished what I’ve seen Nicki accomplish.

I’d say Missy passed her throne to Nicki.

Nicki doesn't have a classic album but she has classic verses and moments. Not every artist needs a classic album to be a legend.

Missy, Lauryn and MIA are always gonna be better, more versatile, influential, legendary and creative than Nicki to me tho.

Ms Dynamite is better too and had better hits (if you're from the UK) but has 0 relevancy outside of the UK so get why she doesn't count in this conversation to most people. Nicki still probably like top 5 females tho

I agree with you. She doesn’t have a classic album. But, she has classic verses (Monster, Bed Rock, 5 Star Chick, Chiraq etc.,)

Idk kinda undeserved calling it a classic especially since she barely wrote herself disrespectful to ms lauryn hill

exactly and those verses are amazing. Can't take away from Nicki's legendary career.

And outside of moments that blew up like some of those horrible pop hits, most of her most legendary moments are lyrical. Which in a decade like the 2010s is respectable

Didn't Lauryn Hill leave loads of producers like Che Pope (works with Ye now) uncredited on Miseducation tho too. Not questioning she wrote the bars but that's still a s***ty thing to do

this isn't specifically about Nicki but we should really stop comparing every single female rapper to Lauryn Hill as a measure of quality

:Dont think it says alot when a rapper doesnt have a classic.

J.cole and Drake come to mind. Both of them still got a better discography than some rappers with a classic for example snoop dogg or 50 cent. A classic is great but it doesnt say much except the cultural impact of that one project.

Agreed. Especially when a lot of female rappers aren't even trying to be like Lauryn Hill (even if they love/respect her and are influenced/inspired by her career).

Most mainstream female rappers sound like legends like missy, mia, lil Kim, Nicki than Lauryn in 2020.

She's easily the queen of the last decade but do you think Megan is hotter rn?

Either way a track like Big Ole Freak is better than anything Nicki has done these last few years and I actually like some Nicki music from the last few years unlike most of KTT

Oh yeah Meg is 100% hotter. The issue I find with these ladies is, are we just looking for a Nicki replacement? I’m not trynna disrespect Meg or discredit her art at all, but just like with Cardi, it’s easy to fall in love with a familiar face. Even Doja Cat got so much attention and I think it comes down to: if you’re not thick your fanbase won’t be overfilled with hyper-sexualized men who don’t actually care about your art. This is good and bad cuz it weaves out fake fans but also brings less attention to these girls, so people like a Rico Nasty who was right next to Meg on the XXL cover isn’t getting nearly the same amount of attention. The reason I point this out is because I’m skeptical of how long Meg’s reign will last, and if she’ll actually try to solidify herself as the good artist I know she sees herself as, or follow the Cardi path of embracing a social media personality? Cardi will never have the same respect from Hip-Hop as Nicki does, writers or not, because her music just isn’t as good as Nicki’s. Meg on the other hand actually seems to be putting creative effort into her artistry so perhaps she’ll able to do what Cardi couldn’t and really snag the throne from Nicki.

    yeah that's what I mean.

I still think it's a classic because of the vocals she wrote on top. But she apparently didn't produce as much as she made out. A lot of those songs have a solo production credit which is just unrealistic from what we know.

Their was a whole lawsuit. Classic Lauryn response to it tho when asked to credit them or give them contacts: We all love each other. This ain't about documents. This is blessed
