“Everyone else has the same 24 hours to make derivative music and blow up” being the mentality is the problem lmao
Not sure what you’re proposing outside of crying because some white boy is making 2000s era inspired datpiff rap
Like what even is that goal here besides complaining

I like Ian’s music while also acknowledging and agreeing with some of the criticisms surrounding him but his detractors fail to realize that they’re only giving him more and more attention the more and more they write think piece after think piece about him. You don’t fw him then don’t even acknowledge his existence it would work wonders.

Exactly. Here’s another great idea, talk more about the people supporting the culture instead of the “vultures”

You could make a thread about artist you like and feel like are pushing boundaries
Or could you could jump in the booth and make a diss track to show them what the culture is feeling
Complaining with no goal in sight just sounds like you’re writing think pieces for attention
It’s not that serious

THANK YOU! Ian is definitely blowing up among the kids/young adults but people are acting like dude is a global phenomenon lol plenty of authentic acts in the underground that people could get behind that are going up rn but they won’t while complaining about those same people not getting attention
How is that not a problem lmao
I just want you to tell me why you think that don’t be annoying

controversy and gimmick s*** sells

I mean I could see why people would look at it as minstrel s*** but based on what I’ve seen from people younger from me they genuinely just like his music

It’s like what Beyoncé tried to do with Cowboy Carter except people are actually listening to Ian
I just want you to tell me why you think that don’t be annoying
Its how we got to this place where everyone is just tryna make a variation of whats popping instead of the 90’s to maybe mid / late 2000’s mentality of trying to somewhat unique even in the mainstream. Even up till 2015 people were still relatively tryna have their own lane if they wanted to be taken serious as an artist
Once it became “nigga shut up you not popping nobody wanna hear all that lyrical s***” Everyone just tryna make the best version of a list of a few trends/archetypes
We at a point now where Carti gets hype for Future cosplay or Tana gets hype for Thug cosplay or ian gets hype for Yeat cosplay. The mentality being “nobody cares get popping you can make clone music too or shut up” is how that happens
These talentless f***s cant think of anything themselves so they just copy the GOAT
