Nas wanted to protect hip hop from Ring Tone Rap

Jay wanted to protect hip hop from Auto Tune

Kanye wanted to protect hip hop from light skinned niggas

dont know if this post was serious but nas was lowkey right when he said jeezy killed hip hop “im not a rapper…” lmao

In the same way that wayne kinda did

    By accident lol

Exactly. Here’s another great idea, talk more about the people supporting the culture instead of the “vultures”

    We do.

Yall say “who” or just dont post altogether until them niggas get a co-sign lol

The issue is (while i agree threads like these dont help), the obvious plant money that rich kids like ian have do make it so that you can never escape it. These twitter threads go to people’s fyp pages unprompted

Meanwhile some of your fav actual better blacker rappers and artists dont have the backing or money to do the same thing as an ian who legit is not like us. Niggas like kenny mason & pt that deserve 1000x this kind of promo.

I was just in another thread telling niggas that its crazy ian managed by bu and someone like kaycyy is

Lmaoo the same promo money whoever is sending to these twitter pages must not be in kaycyy budget

    I said “sounds like”
Like how EVERY classic rock band does their best to sound like an old black blues singer from the ‘50s

so you saying iggy azalea deserves an apology?

If it came out in 2007-2009 nobody would have thought that lmao

I like barter 6 but there’s Future/Thug/Carti type music and what we’re impressed with there and there’s the verses we thought were hard in the early / mid 2000’s and i think pretending that they are all the same level of quality/effort/skill is kinda how we got here.

Why would a young nigga try to rap fr when he can use charisma/aesthetics/delivery/swag/marketing/a great rollout and have his project called classic in the same breath of all the other rap classics without having to have mastered the fundamentals of elite rapping?

i actually started making a thread initially about this same exact issue and decided against it because this site is so steeped in that trap poptimist s*** that it would’ve just been a troll fest

It's funny that yachty was the one to say that who is now b****ing about hip hop being dead who is now also working with Ian

Macklemore actually sounds like Macklemore. GKMC grammy-versy kinda muddied the waters he’s ACTUALLY one of the few genuine white rappers we had tbh. Definitely can be cringe but he aint blaccenting his voice at all lol

Tell me what is the difference between 50s rockers sounding like black blues singers and an iggy azalea fam?

Not trying to put words in your mouth, but trying to quantify songs like Halftime in pure technical rap skills really doenst cover the entire appeal

Idk if i said that right, english is not my first language but yea

Lil’ Wayne killed lyricism in the mainstream by making a minstrely show out of himself

    this isn’t entirely true tbh

Wayne showed that you could skirt by if you had extremely strong delivery and “aura” on the microphone, but Wayne was still a rapper at heart (i mean as obviously shown by his mixtapes, he always had lyrical bangers on his albums too but eh)

i just think people plucked his delivery and various experiments with autotune, crooning and whatever else and built an entire career out of it without having to be good at rapping fundamentally like how he was, im not sure if you can blame him for that

What people like @Veggie and @twinkletoez dont understand is all this s*** is funny til you at an artist mixer (was invited by this drummer i played keys for a gig at recently) in BROOKLYN and you hearing all these young niggas music (black, white, and hispanic) and literally all. Of. Them. Sound. Like. Yeat and Carti.

    BROOKLYN.

Sounding like rappers that either are or wanna be from Atlanta

I wish I was making this up.
