This is a nostalgia thread posing a music quality thread.

Since radio programming is not as prominent, you aren't being forced to make some of the connections with music. Everyone can just chose what they like.

    Yep

Music was super curated until a few years ago

Radio and TV ruled what everyone listened too
It still happens today but it’s not the same

can you read bro? that's the top songs of 1994. I was in my 20s in 2007 and no one was crying for celine dion to make a comeback

Nobody in 2020 is calling for Akon, Kiesha Cole or the black eyed peas to make a comeback

the problem is the budgets have all fallen of, can't pay for great producers, songwriters and make large concept albums anymore, music videos are so bad now too.

If radio and tv channels were still the main ways to consume music you’d see kids in 2032 talking about how music has fallen off hard since 2020

    lmfao no clue

So you’re telling me humble wasn’t purposely chosen as a lead single because TDE knew it was catchy and casual listeners would eat it up. Song is great but it’s the truth. You can’t just expect to rap really good expect that to get spins no how it works J Cole learned the hard way. He talks about it all the time

Wrong, music has gotten significantly worse in the mainstream level, it's undeniably true to anyone that has a decent catalogue of saved music and years looking into it.

Look at the Billboard 2007 Year End list of the top songs per chart numbers. Look at the quality and compare it to 2020 it's just ridiculous how popular music has dramatically decreased in quality, the music production, the lyrics, the melody, the music videos, the quality of said artists has all fallen off completely.

We had iconic and quality stars back in 2007, compare that to 200 and I can't help but laugh. Who the f*** is to blame, I swear it's the cheap ass record companies that got greedy and slashed budgets.

You see this list full of the best artists of R&B and Rap, all who dropped quality music compare that to Roddy Rich, Tones and I, BTS lmao

Why has the quality of the Billboard 100 dropped so significantly?

Just listen to some of the songs that made this list, what the f*** the quality is unreal.

We just in transition music has always had its highs and lows

You have added absolutely nothing of value, you're argument was "they were saying the same thing back in 2007, and also "you didn't have the internet"

Streaming and social media in general became a blessing/curse for music. We get it easier and way quicker but sometimes at the expense of creativity and quality.
